Hi Riku,

Where did you buy the 66mm lens hood?

Hi!

It came with the lens. I guess they are rare? I was lucky because I've read that this lens really needs a hood. This is not multicoated like the later model 40-2.

Neither Helios-40 are multicoated. But the coating of the black version, especially of the later ones, seems to be better. In any case, both lenses definitely need a lens hood if you are after a crisp detailed performance (if you are looking for wide opean dreamy effect you might do without).

Have no regrets: the 40-2 also flares like hell without a lens shade.

Edit: Sorry, Orio, I hadn't seen your post when I pressed the "Submit" button.

Cheers!

Embarassed when I got flare in my photos I usually like it...

how about these blades?
unusual? when fully open or fully closed the aperture becomes perfectly round, only in settings in between star like as shown

Big aperture lenses get my vote and include:

1.5/75 Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar
1.4/85 Komura
1.8/135 Soligor
1.4/85 Auto RE Topcor
1.2/58 Taika Harigon

All in Exakta mount, of course.

Wink

See my web site - here's the link to my Taika Lens Page

http://captjack.exaktaphile.com/Taika%20page.htm

The 1.2 Taika is interesting in two ways, first it uses the Exakta external bayonet and second, it is the fastest lens ever produced in Exakta mount.

My sexiest is the big Aetna 450 mm. f/6.5.
Not a very good lens but the shape and the curves really impress me.

Seems really massive metal construction!

Maybe not a good lens but if I had one I definitely would keep it at my bedside. Laughing

Today I took my time to make a severe "crash-test" to find out, what is my best lens.
Best due to "bokeh, sharpness and color rendition".
I took all my 35mm, 50mm and 58mm lenses and compared them.

The clear winner was:

[/b]
Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58/2.0 (rare black metal version)

You can count the amount of the blades if you like...

Funny, rereading this thread I was thinking the 2/58 Biotar myself. My favorite captures have been more with this lens.

I really like my CZJ Sonnar 135mm/3.5 zebra, got a lenshood on it. It has become the lens that follows me everywhere.

PostPosted: Sun Jul 27, 2008 9:52 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

All Sonnars are top lenses I like this zebra very much too. I have all variants from 135mm include MC, CONTAX MM , but I tell you they have NO significant difference all are so excellent.

My aaa is Biometar 2.8/80mm M42. Tessar 2.8/80mm and Pancolar 1.8/80mm are on their way. Not sure who will be the best. but, Biometar is too good.

PostPosted: Fri Aug 01, 2008 1:06 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Pancolar is the best in my opinion I have all of them.
