It came with the lens. I guess they are rare? I was lucky because I've read that this lens really needs a hood. This is not multicoated like the later model 40-2. |

Neither Helios-40 are multicoated. But the coating of the black version, especially of the later ones, seems to be better. In any case, both lenses definitely need a lens hood if you are after a crisp detailed performance (if you are looking for wide opean dreamy effect you might do without). _________________ Orio, Administrator

Have no regrets: the 40-2 also flares like hell without a lens shade.
