I have the Soligor CD 28mm f2, so I want the matching 135mm f2 plus the 35mm f2.

Mine would be:

Contax 28/2
Contax Zeiss 100-300/4.5-5.6
Mamiya (645) 35mm 3.5

Minolta MD 35 Shift is on Ricardo, maybe you can even barter for it a bit...

Why the Mamiya 35mm? It certainly isn't a stellar lens (assuming you are talking about the MF lens; I don't know the AF version) ...

Ah okay, didn't know that. It's on my "wishlist" since i own a 645 (with the amazing 80/1.9) and I might at some point need a wide angle for it. What would you recommend for it then?

As I said I don't know the AF 35mm for the Mamiya 645, and the following is about the MF version.

Calculating superwide retrofocus lenses was quite difficult back in the 1970s, and even more so when the lens had to cover a larger area (the useable area of 645 is about 2.7 times as large as 35mm kino film) and to be fast (f3.5 was pretty fast for a medium format superwide - remember that Nikons 20mm lens was f4 back then).

That said the Mamiya Sekor C 3.5/35mm is quite OK when used at f11 and with "ordinary" films in the ISO 100 range. In the 1990s I have been using the Mamiya 645 lenses with Kodak Technical Pan film (which had up to 400 LP/mm resolution) and a special super-soft developer made by Tetenal. Since the the TP was sensitive into near IR, it was perfect for landscapes, especially wehn combined with a red filter in front of the lens. By using the red filter in combination with the TP film, all CAs were eliminated (well, just the red light comes in!), and atmospherical haze was eliminated almost completely, resulting in incredibly detailed and sharp b/w landscape images. That was my technique to get the most out of the Mamiya 645 ... of course you have to use a tripod and MLU & self timer to get the most out of it.

I've never been using the Mamiya 645 for reportage, but I guess that the 3.5/35mm is quite OK even wide open when using a 400 ISO b/w film - especially since you don't usually need sharp corners when doing reportage.

Well - I've never been able to get my hands on a CY 100-300mm, but when I look at the test results at philippreeve (https://phillipreeve.net/blog/review-contax-vario-sonnar-t-4-5-5-6-100-300/) I'd guess the Minolta AF 4.5-5.6/75-300mm "Big Beercan" isn't that different! The Minolta has not nearly as much CAs as the Zeiss CY 4/80-200mm (which is an excellent vintage zoom), and I got my last sample including a Minolta 5000 and a MinAF 1.7/50mm for whoopping CHF 1.--. The Minolta - which was crazy expensive when new - should be worth a try until you finally get your Zeiss 100-300mm.

Prices:
Minolta AF 4/70-210mm *Beercan" CHF 390.-- (around 1989)
Minolta AF 4.5-5.6/75-300mm "Big Beercan" CHF 1090.-- (also 1989)

Thanks for the tips on the Mamiya. I'm not really after extreme sharpness in the open aperture region, if i need it (landscape) I can just use a tripod and step down. Lately I've started to shoot album covers and portraits for local bands on film, for which you kinda need a wide angle. So far my 35mm kit has served me well but a bit of extra resolution is never bad!

I've seen the Minolta AF 75-300 going for cheap a few times too. Unfortunately it's the "wrong" mount for me, I try to keep everything C/Y or Minolta SR. My 35mm collection is already too big anyway, if the fast 35/85 combo from Zeiss wouldn't be so expensive I would only keep my Contax RTSii kit.

Another great lens that had to go for this reason was the Tokina AT-X 100-300/4 in Canon Fd Mount.

Nikon Reflex NIKKOR 2000mm 1:11 even though the latter is not so great but the first *IS*. If I could add one more, it has to be Astro Berlin 2000mm 1:10 in photography setting or a Minolta Reflex 1600mm 1:11 may also be fine. Just wish the prices are reasonable.

I'm actually quite happy with the lenses I currently own. Lenses that could tempt me:

Olympus OM 90/2 macro.
Minolta MC 135/2

And probably some of the less common Mamiya glass.

Whoops ... that one would interest me as well!!

Which one? 35mm format, or 645 ot 67? The RZ67 and even more so the Mamiya 7 glass should be terrific, but I've never been able to use some of these lenses.
