Okay, so I got these 2 M42 lenses for free from a guy I know today because he found them in his attic while cleaning up.
1. ENNA München Tele-Ennalyt 1:4.5 / 240mm
Looks to be in okay condition apart from the front lens which is pretty dirty and smudged from the rear side, or something.
2. Revue 1:3.5 / 28mm Automatic
Looks to be in pretty good condition.
What can you tell me about these lenses? Are they any good, what's the market value, is it worthwhile to get the Enna cleaned?
Haven't had the chance yet to test these myself but I'm going to tomorrow in the daylight. |

Peter is correct, both are cheap "plastic fantastic" Ennna lenses, rebranded as REVUE. Not worth the $$ IMHO. _________________ Klaus - Admin

Eh, I didn't spend anything on them since I was given them for free.
So these are nothing really worthwhile then... any chance I can get some money out of them, or at least the 240mm? I'd like to keep the 28mm until I've got a better wide-angle since it's not really all that bad imo, as some test shots I took some minutes ago showed me. |

all these plastic ennas seem to be very prone to grow fungus inside. i saw it very often. does anyone know why? is it the plastic? _________________ EOS 5D, EOS 30

Probably... In this series they cut costs as much as they could, using lots of plastics. Enna does still exist today as a... plastics company
I had two of those lenses in the past and I threw both away as the internals (optical balsam) were completely crystallized. And I have seen more examples of that problem. So I still don't know how they would perform if they were optically clean _________________ Peter - Moderator

Hi, I'm so sorry to say "plastic" enna's are not so bad ... The 240mm can be very sharp. I have the 135 mm 2,8 (3 copies 3 differents brands) and it is at the level of the "standard japanese 135mm" , Vivitar, chinon, revuenon, tokina, etc ...I have also the 35mm, the 28mm (metal version) , the 240mm and the 300mmf/5,6
The "dirt" on the rear side of the front element is not fungus or balsam crystallisation . It is the "evaporated" (by heat) grease of the helicoïd ring. Easy to dismantle, easy to clean with isopropylic alcohol .all the plastic enna telephoto lenses suffer from this disease , so I pay never more than 5 € for these "marvels" in flea-markets.
