Whaaaaaat!

Very Happy And I did not even notice it in the ad when I saw it. Someone who wasn't interested in the Helios told me on another forum. I guess I was lucky it wasn't sold already.

No seriously, I really like sunshine stories, enjoy the Helios Wink

Got my Jupiter 11A for £12 and my 37A for $2, both nice and clean and both with hoods, caps and cases.

Admittedly the 37A had to come from Eastern Europe and cost a further $30 to ship, but still relatively inexpensive considering how sought after it has become.

Also a mint Kinotar 6mm f/1.9 D mount for a couple of pounds. It's no use but it makes a lovely ornament.

Actually, it can be of use if you want it to be. I have an old D-mount Wollensak 1/2" f/2.5 lens that I've converted for high-magnification work. Reverse-mounted to the front of my Tamron 90mm macro, I get about 7x magnification, and the photos are quite sharp. If you were to reverse-mount yours to a 50mm lens, you'd be looking at 8.33x magnification.

Here's a link to a post I wrote back in October 2009 about how I did it:

If you've got an extra lens cap and some glue, you're in business.

Minolta MD Rokkor 85/2 near mint for $40.

Found a stash of photo gear at a local antique mall. For a change, it wasn't overpriced. Picked up a minty Canon Serenar 100mm f/4 with case and finder for $65, a Helios 44M 58mm f/2 for $20, and a Tamron 80-210mm f/3.8-4 03A for $25.

One could argue that the Helios and Tamron were close to market price, but $65 for a 100/4 Serenar with the finder was a steal. Especially in mint/mint- condition.

Found a Minolta SR-T 303b with Rokkor PG 50mm f1.4 for $1 this evening. Everything seems to work, but haven't checked the meter yet. It's dirty, but dirty I can fix. Smile

I'd say you did exceptionally well based on the other buy-in-now prices I'm seeing, which seem to be $600 and higher. The best thing about a scratch is the amount of money you can save. Rarely do scratches on the front element of a lens affect image quality, I've found. Even when shooting into the sun the effect is minor if it exists at all.

WHAT? Where? Is there something special about the -7?

I have a plain old 44M (I think) that I want to sell. Can't see how I can get anywhere near that much for it though, not when all those Ukranians and Russians are selling them on ebay for $20 and sometimes less.

I bought a slightly battered Sears Auto (Tomioka) 55/1.4 for US$2.25 and sold it for US$48.50 after pounding its rim back into shape a little. Almost as good: A for-parts (aperture stuck open) Isco Westron 50/2 that I paid US$4 for and sold for US$45. My costs include shipping; my sales exclude shipping costs, so the buyers actually paid even more. Of course, the buyers were from countries with stronger currencies than the flabby US$. Wink

But my *best* eBay bargains were those that were NOT AS DESCRIBED and the sellers refunded my money and told me not to bother shipping the lenses back. FREE is always the best bargain, right?
