This was my grandfathers pocket camera. I have it now but I doubt I'll carry it around too much.. I think they must have had bigger pockets.

Anyone ever try actually using one of these? Seems like everything works.

Shot with Nikon D200 and MF 28mm F2.8 vivitar (kiron) lens. 1/250s, f2.8, ISO 100.

Isn't it amazing to see the cams that our grandparents have used?

My pocket cam I take from this list:

Digital:
- Pentax Optio S (There is no pocket where this little gem does not fit into!)
- Kodak DX7440 (I need a bigger pocket for that.)

Film:
- Olympus 35RC
- Minolta Mi-Matic F
- Ricoh 500RF
- Leica C2 (the lens slides inside, so that's really a "pocketable" cam.)

Hi, I carry either my tiny Konica C35 or a very trusty old Nagel / Retina 11c both of which serve me well...

The Konica, with its clean simplicity attracts attention from hardened film freaks, whilst the Nagel gets soppy sentimental looks from anyone over a certain age, who express pleasure that in the point and shoot digital age, quality of design and manufacture still exist in a camera over 60 years old...

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

In pocket, right now I'm carrying the Yashica T4. Next week probably the Retina IIa. I've also carried a Bessa 66 with great effect.

We'd received a morale-present for the Y2K night, so we could take photos of each other at work Rolling Eyes I never used the Vivitar plasto-cam until this year, when I realised it has a 28mm lens! It was fun, but it didn't even survive an entire 37 exposure roll.

That's the opposite extreme...

I always carried an Olympus XA or a cheapy 110 cartridge cam, just in case. Now, I still carry the XA, but it takes turns, not so much in my pocket but in the vehicle, with other film cams of various sizes. For pocket ware I always have a phobile moan cam.

The Olympus XA2 is my pocket camera...It actually takes nice photos for a little 35mm camera.

Asahi Pentax MX and the smc-M 40mm 2.8

I used to sneer at the lowly Minolta Freedom Zoom "all plastic" camera, but then one day I had to pull it out of the glove compartment (a poor place to keep a camera) to use, as it was all I had.

Found out it was actually capable of taking a decent shot, so now it's my pocket backup!(And I keep it in the insulated box with my other gear now).

Here's a shot from that little piece of plastic:

Mist on Ruby Beach Trail
Minolta Freedom Zoom
Plastic fixed aperture lens, probably about f:11

I'm curious but I don't even know what kind of film it uses... Heck, it may have film in it!

Nikon CoolPix L4. Point and click, very small and reasonably sharp shots Smile

It's a piece of crap in low light.

But it's not really a film camera Razz. Film is too much of a hassle for a pocket cam Smile

I still use my Oly XA which i bought in 1985. That is really pocket size. It has been my only cam for years.

I can see I'm wasting my time trying to get everyone to stick to the 900 maximum width. If nobody else cares about it I might as well give up and leave.

@ Peter:

Why would you want to leave because of the extra 124 pixels that I for one, forgot about?

I have a 17" monitor and the 1024px wide image doesn't result in widescreen scrolling for me so can I be excused for overlooking it?

Anyway, it's been fixed now.

I posted a large photo earlier as well. It came straight from a P&S camera and never got processed. Sizing to 900 wide has become standard for me. I try to be conscious of others when I post. I usually save a full size copy of my photos and a 900 wide version just for this site. I fixed my earlier photo.

Was it ever posted in a sticky about 900 wide max photos? I didn't hear about until I had been posting for a while and never remembered seeing it.

Thanks Bob.

As I've said so many times before, when someone posts a picture larger than 900 wide, the lines of text extend off the right edge of my screen. In order to read the text I have to scroll across and then I can't see the whole of the picture. And just one large picture ruins every message in the thread. I really don't understand why this doesn't seem to affect anyone else. It is getting REALLY tiresome for all of us, and truly embarrassing for me, that I have to keep commenting about it.

I have been told many times that nothing can be done to limit the size of pictures or to force the text to wrap within the screen width, but I really don't believe this. On the other forum the width of the panel is fixed, the right hand edge is always visible on my screen and the text always wraps within the screen width. When someone posts a picture which is too large it simply gets resized to fit. It is SO much easier and quicker to read.

Michael, I agree it would be nice if there was some kind of notice or sticky to remind everyone about the maximum image width - I could refer to it every time a large picture is posted. Sadly I'm not able to create it myself.

Peter, it affects me too with my laptop. Wink
And it's correct to remind everybody when a bigger pic is posted, IMHO.
