I'm totally confused by all the different mounts for Kiev camera. I'm looking for a Volna 3 and they seem to come in various combinations of different mounts. I know one of them is the same as P6, but which? And are there any other Kiev mounts that can be adapted to M42? I already have P6/EOS and P6/M42 adapters but another type wouldn't be a problem. Anyone know of a website about Kiev mounts (in English preferably Smile)

I will post message tomorrow how I had to deal with Arsat 3.5/30 K88 mount and Pentax K10D. Finally I am able to make photo but it was very "painful".

The one to avoid is the Kiev 88 three-start thread mount, like this,

You can get an adapter ring to make it P6, but it's a pita and well worth avoiding if you can get a proper P6 one in the first place.

The later Kiev 88CM has the P6 mount, so that's ok.
Looking at my V-3, I can't see any marks on it to distinguish it as K-88 only, and I don't think the 88CM one has either.

Idea Thanks all of you! It's not as complicated as I thought. I didn't realise there were two different 88s.

I would be careful. "later" lenses from former SU are worse then "earlier" ones. The similar situation is with Sonnar 2.8/180 for P6. Old zebra with only one coat is better then newer MC Sonnars - for Pentacon Six. When I decided to try "russian" optic I couldn't find any adviser who can tell me is it worth it or not. Now I know. Below sample made with Arsat 3.5/30 for K88 and crop. I don't complain even I don't have "fish eye" effect. I used adapter K88/P6 matched with adapter P6/PK - on Pentax K10D body. Doesn't work well (imcompatibility of adapters0) but I can focusing to infinity, pictures are sharp and lens is safe (very heavy). Unfortunately all my other "russian" lenses for medium format are in P6 version. And some of them are very good but Mir - 26b is "soapy" a bit wide open.

So will this lens fit the P6 adapter?

Half way only, later I will attached some photos to show what kind of problems I have. The hardware of both adapters don't match in 100%. Also I will post part of my correspondence with vendor from Ukraine, the person who sold me K88/P6 adapter. I have to find it somewhere on hdd.

Voytek, thanks but I don't think you understood what I asked.

peterqd I am sorry if I didn't understand your question. English is my second language. The question is: How to avoid problems to match different lenses with same kind of mount - made by different manufactures. I can not answer your question. The photo shows Volna lens, copy of Biotar 2.8/80 with mount which looks "like" P6 mount. As far I know if you try to attach some CZJ lenses with P6 mount to Kiev60, you can get trouble - however there are some different opinion, vide http://www.photographyreview.com/cat/cameras/film-cameras/medium-format/kiev/PRD_135870_3107crx.aspx
I can not be a judge in such situation.

This lens advertised as an KIEV60 camera lens, this mean it has P6 mount and fit into your adapter. Unfortunately we can see only a small part of mount and not recognizable this is P6 mount or not.

Yep. The K60 is essentially a Russian P6 and uses the P6 mount. Just avoid the 88 (always good advice, that) and you'll be fine.
