This ends early tomorrow morning and am wondering if this model is an OK
one to get:

Click here to see on Ebay

Might make for a nice walkaround camera.

I have no much clue about them even if I have a couple of one, I never used them.

Thanks, Attila, if I win this, hope the film advance works! Laughing

I plan on getting a couple more models, anyway.

I don't want to worry you even more, but watch out for a problem with that era's focal-plane shutters, which is what this one has (early Exas had weird mirror/flap shutters). These later 1960's models had rubberized ones, which tend to dry out and crack. My Exakta VXIIb has that problem.

Luis, is this reparable or does the camera become a nice paperweight? I'm
thinking it probably becomes a paperweight.

Its repairable, but it would have to be by a repairman. Basically they make and fit a new set of shutter curtains.

I priced this some months ago, and it was running @$100 with a cleaning, lubrication and shutter speed adjustment.

All in all, probably worth it to get a 100% functioning Exakta, good for a couple of decades more.

Hummm, I think I'll try for this cam, then. If the shutter is defunct, I'll be
talking to you about what repairman you priced this.

Ron, not really sure and not mentioned, but I think it will be the CZJ
Tessar 50/2.8 which came standard with this cam.

Got the camera today:

Aperture diaphragm works on this one, too. Just practicing tripping the
shutter left-handed right now. Laughing

Very nice looking cam. I've never used one of those - is the shutter button the knob on the lens mount?

So..... Good deal?

PostPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 11:31 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Dave, yes, that's the shutter release button.

Mike, dunno yet. Wink It is built like a little tank, has a lot of that stuff
Rick mentioned, called "metal".

How are the shutter curtains ? (or is this one of those that doesn't have them ?)

PostPosted: Wed Jun 18, 2008 4:37 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Cute little thing btw.

Luis, haven't checked the shutter curtains but will find out. I have this
outfit on its way and also the Flek 4/20:

Camera pictured was CLA'd two months ago and new shutter curtains were
installed. Should have this camera by Thursday, latest. Think I will change
out the prism finder and use the included waist level finder for S's and G's.
Seller said there were more items he included, will find out when it arrives.
The extension tube set is nice to have.
