So the next time your driving past that "less than elegant antique shop", stop in. Deals are not just on Ebay!

$30 for the Pair with lenses. The Chrome IIIa was jammed, but I fixed it. Then sent both to Youxin Ye for CLA. The little Leica's deserve to be in top shape.

This is with the Summar at F4 on the Leica IIIa.

I'll upload some wide-open. I opened up the lens and cleaned some haze out from the internal surfaces. The front element was caked with dirt, but it came off with ammonia based eyeglass cleaner.

amazing...
i would not even know exactly which models they were, but saw some similar yesterday at a shop, about 1000 USD each?

Wow! What an incredible bargain!!
Did you check if these cams are genuine?

Well, even if they are fake, this was a great bargain.
If they are real Leicas, this was the bargain of the century!

Congratulations!

These are "the real deal" and not fed's or Zorki's. Of course, I would love to come across the Russian copy of the Summar, it is RARE! There are some other differences, and I compared the Fed side-by-side with these when I got them home. The baseplate of the Fed is slightly smaller and will not fit on the III.

The Russian cameras have yellow RF patches, and very few have slow shutter speeds. I sent both cameras to Youxin Ye for a full CLA. The IIIa got a new beamplitter.

I'll be scanning some more shots taken with these two, with the Summar and the Sonnar that I made into LTM.

Brian, what I meant are not FEDs or Zorkis, but cameras that show the Leica Signature, serial etc. but still are fakes.

Anyway, I am happy for you (and if I'am honest, a little envious Wink), because these are dream cams! Very Happy

The "usual suspect" fakes usually start out as Fed 1 or Zorki 1's. I've noticed the body shells are ever-so-sligtly smaller than a Leica. I've got a Zorki that needs some TLC. It will make a good project.

Put a Nicca 3 next to a Leica III and you are hard-pressed to find a difference, until you look through the RF. The Nicca uses a Yellow tint for the RF patch. The Nicca, Leotax, and other copies usually hold a premium.

But I know these are "real", they have been to an enthusiast for CLA.

Got to say it again, Brian. WONDERFUL find...you'll be talking about this one even when you are in your "old age rocker"! Laughing And...so would I!
