hi all,
this is my first post here, after a reading here as a guest, i decided to login.

so today i went into our loca foto shop and bought some hopefully nice lenses.
rollei CZ HFT planar 50mm 1,4
rollei CZ HFT Sonnar 135 2,8
CS Y/C 35mm 2,8
all in good condition
with the CS Y/C 35mm 2,8 i will buy a chip adapter, and will have fun with it.
only the two rollei lenses i did not find many words in the www.
does anybody has some experience mounted on the 5D ?

does anybody mounted it with a confirm chip?
on ebay there are only adapter without chip..

thx for feedback
regards
reinhard

Welcome to aboard!
We have a few 5D users here, I guess Orio will able to answer to your question.

Welcome and enjoy your stay!

Could you post some pictures of the lenses so that we can identify them better?

You will need to shave the mirror in order to use the Rollei Planar on the 5D.
I have a straight (no chip) adapter and it works well. If you use the 5D especially with a better focusing screen like the EE-S, you don'y really need a chipped adapter, except for wide angle lenses wider than 28mm.

hi,
here is a pic of the three zeiss lenz.

@orio
did you mean i have to shave the mirror if i use a chip adapter?
or do i have to shave it at all events?
the last lens moves only about 1mm after the bajonett...
or is it because of the strange beveled metall ring?
what a pitty....
i think, i cant shave the mirror ...

reinhard

AH, I thought it was a 50/1.8 - I didn't know it exists as a 1.4 - in that case, I don't know about the mirror - the 0.8 does not clear it, I don't know about the 1.4

hi,
i recieved an adapter, which fits well.
but the 50mm 1,4 Zeiss Rollei HFT Made in Germany
will not fit on the 5D, i shaved i down, but after ~10m
the mirror hit the last lens. Confused

but the 135 Zeiss Rollei HFT Made in Germany
works well Smile

cheers
reinhard

hi,

what a pitty!

even the carl zeiss T* 35mm 2,8 does not fit on the canon 5D!
At about 5 meter the mirros hits some metal around the last lens.

perhaps its possibel to shave it, but i dont think that is worth.

cheers
reinhard

I have no problems using a Contax Zeiss 35/2.8 with a fotodiox pro adapter. Now my Contax Zeiss 50/1.4 hits the mirror only when in the vertical position. Must be some slop in the adaptor.

hi james,
that sounds interesting, does it reach infinity?
i know thats the wrong forum here,
but ' after a little reading in the www im not
sure if its better than the canon EF 35mm 2.0, whar do you say?

with the 50/1.4 im very unhappy, that its does not fit,
mine is not contax, its rollei Zeiss HFT made in Germany.

thx for reply.

reinhard

I have the same problem with a well made M42 adaptor and the Mamiya 55/1.4 : it's the 5D mirror that plays a little bit while going up.

Flor27 : The problem with your mamiya lens is this : all the tomioka design have the rear element so big and go so back that the mirror...... Tack!! Some takumars 50 mm. F/1,4 have this problem too. Apprenticeship is money lost, for everybody.
