Some out-of-boredom bokeh extravaganza with the superstar lens, also.
(wide open, then stopped down):

Yes. I was astonished also, in spite of the idiot subjects.
Well, this stupid series proves, I think, that there is a reason, sometimes, in the big money you spend for a lens. Shocked

Well deserves the "superstar" accolade.

Beautifully sharp and a great sense of depth.

The bokeh is great wide open (ang generally very good stopped down).

Yes. The price was superstar, also Embarassed in spite I got if for half it's normal price, it was still a madness to buy it. I'm lucky that Monica does not know lenses and their values... Shocked

It is one of the very few fast lenses I have, that can combine the "sharp wide open" with the "smooth bokeh" things.
Usually fast lenses are either soft wide open with good bokeh, or sharp wide open with crappy bokeh.
I don't know how they cooked the magic in this one, but they did.

Yes... I am going to miss them much Sad
It's been fantastic every spring to reach them with my hands... and to literally be in the middle of them, like a bird.

That is actually a different lens, Chris.
The 2/100 Makro ZF is the evolution of the Contax Makro-Planar 2.8/100
This lens I have, instead, The Contax 2/100, is a portrait lens.

Indeed. You can get great results from lenses that you can find for little money, but if you want to have the best possible performance, you need to spend big money.
The reasons why you would do so are several: professional demand, collector, trying to find out what is possible, enjoying the optimum performance...
(In you case, I guess, it's the last two aspects, right?) Wink

Yes, and also that stupid thing that when you are adult and with a job you want to have things that you desired and could never afford when a young student or unemployed.
Zeiss lenses were always my dream, since when I was photographing with Sigma and Panagor zooms... Rolling Eyes Smile

Orio
Some of those Panagors were in fact excellent lenses - especially the 90/2.5 macro. I have a bellows by them which is built like a tank

I admit I don't really know them... I only had a 18-28 zoom, and although it was manna from the sky (my only way to photograph with a superwide), the performance was not unforgettable Wink

Thanks for the clarification, sorry to have mixed them up.
