Dear All.
I have been working on my cyclop 85/1.5 this morning.
Here some test shots I wish you like them.
My today's work finish almost sun set so I only shoot a park near my house.
And it is late autumn so object is very less.
It sound like excuse but my honest feeling.

It is common view near my house.

Some nice bokeh going on there. I'm not really a fan of this lens though, but the green leafy shot is very good IMO..

I like the green leave and number 7 with great bokeh and nice fading colors.

I also do not like when I have to carry long. But I don't have much fast lens in this length. Good news I purchased Meyer Primoplan 75/1.9 and that is very much lighter than cyclop. I like it a lot. I don't know why 75-85 mm are often expensive and this Cyclop are kind of inexpensive and good bokeh character I believe.

In this focal lens, you have the Helios-40, great legendary portrait lens, also opening to 1.5.
And you have the modern Samyang 1.4/85, which is well contructed and gives very good results.

Unfortunately, they are not available under 100€ (130$).

I brought Cyclop 85/1.5 Nikon mount version today.
This is today's shot and I wish I can capture this lens character well.

I am still working on this lens and I wish I can make perfect infinity.

I am little shame to publish my photo but many people against this lens so I would like to give a chance.

Have a nice day.

I agree Helios 40 is great lens and I have to check out Samyang later.

Yes I might have enough already.
I just pop up this expensive focal length range and I was wondering why?

Thank you again.

Don't be ashamed. They are good photos.
Many people are against this lens because it has flaws for modern photography consumers : no diaphragm, lot of light aberrations when in full light, not especially sharp.
People who like it just take it for what it is : a wonderful tool for going out of classic roads and searching for creativity, different looking photography. Personnaly I like it for its Art abilities. Some results clearly make think of painting. I was already asked what Photoshoping I had made to obtain this result, but it was the Cyclop out of camera raw result with just some contrast added.

Do you know lot of people here like the Cyclop very much ?

Take the weakness and turn it into a strong point. If it's not a sharp lens then use the blurriness in a way that makes it strong.

Thank you Nikonshooter.
Taking photo with old lens sometimes just like talking with kids.
They have personality and each of them need to expand it.
I just need to be little patient and need to be have fun with this conversation.
Yes, I will make this weakness to be strong point.
Thank you.

It appears like a soft focus lens. This would be great for female portraits.

Rose shoot is good really, try to have aperture even from cardboard , help a lot in sharpness and keep genuine features, dof, bokeh.

This is really a very good picture. The lens has its limitations but for this style it does a very special job, very well.

I like this bokeh shot but according to other people work that quote on above is really wonderful. It's different work to me and I see my work do well on this style.
So the next time I will learn lighting more and one day I will try to catch up those good artist in this site.
But it's fun to catch up and it never end.
Thank you you like my photo.
Have a nice day.
