You are making the best of this lens. Very nice.

Kokuuji, did you add diaph cardboard or ring to your Cyclop ?
I find the depth of field and bokeh better than mine.

Here are some flowers from my garden, shot with noname cyclop too, to give you a smile in return. Smile

I brought Cyclop 85/1.5 Nikon mount version today.
This is today's shot and I wish I can capture this lens character well.

I am still working on this lens and I wish I can make perfect infinity.

I am little shame to publish my photo but many people against this lens so I would like to give a chance.

Have a nice day.

This photo works for me: really nice!

Dear Oliver.
My cyclop also non name version and I made it for Nikon mount.
My father has machine and I ask him maching of the back. The neck of M42 screw and the back wall around 0.5 mm now and machining other part too then my cyclop reach almost infinity. I can make perfect infinity but it is just neck of pain to do the work and I don't need to work on it.
During the work I found many dust between element and I try to clean up with unmature skill and then I lost coating of it.
It's really sensible to and I had to take off back element coating.
I am not sure if it is effect to DOF but they are all I do for this lens.
My M42 version cyclop I have write black ring on filter and I made it instead of aperture.
It's my cyclop 85/1.5 on my Nikon.

Your cyclop making more bokeh and maybe soon when I save some budget I will have to find another.
Both of my cyclop has not so thin DOF and I am little happy with it but instead my bokeh is not so great at all.
Thank you very much.
KOkuuji.

After I've done lots of comparison test shots with my Helios 40-2 85/1.5, I decided to sell my Helios. The Cyclops (at least my copy) has better color, while the Helios has slight yellowish cast (noticable by me) and it's lighter and smaller. The other rendering especially bokeh is 100% the same with Helios.
The Cylops is quite sharp in center area. If your copy is not sharp it might have something wrong with the optics. My copy is soft too when I bought it, but thanks to the advice of MF friends in here I can fix the problem. You can search the topic about Cylops in the past threads.

By the way the price of this lens is skyrocketing now Smile

Wow, but I suppose if you only use your Helios wide open it makes sense. I wonder though, how is the Helios when only stopped down to f/2 or slightly beyond? Does sharpness improve considerably, or is it at the expense of bokeh? I haven't gotten the really whacky bokeh since fixing the rear element; maybe I should make it crooked again. I have some pictures I posted in another forum here, but will now go bring up the larger Cyclop thread and post them there. This thread belongs to Mr. Kokuuji.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention that I use the Helios mainly at wide open and as I recall I never use it at smaller aperture Smile So this is additional reason I sell my Helios 40-2 Smile

Woodrim, I have posted my review of Helios 40-2 in the past in this thread Smile

Hi Guys!
Thanks to this post and its samples I got my own Cyclop 85/1.5 with the whole NZT-1 night vision device. It's fully working and amazing. I'm so excited! It works perfectly on my Lumix G2, even with Focal Reducer added (61/1.1!!!). And one more thing (unusual I guess...) it's a present from my girlfriend - she supports me with my collection. How lucky am I? Smile

So... my question is - did anyone determined the filter size of the lens? I'd like to protect it with some UV filter, but I can't find anything among the ones I already have. Is it 67 mm thread? Can anyone confirm?

I didn't want to start a new thread. Thanks for help!

Hello.

I can say that mine has a 67mm filter thread.

You had your cyclop as a gift made by your girlfriend ? Shocked
Lucky man ! Very Happy

Thanks Olivier!
Yes, yes I am! Very Happy My girlfriend saw me staring at online offer and bought it to me. She's the best that has happened to me (an my collection)! Smile
