Just a quick snap of the '57 family.
All these cameras were made in 1957 or were current models.
Back L-R: Polaroid 80 'Highlander', Zeiss Nettar,
Voigtlander Perkeo, Adox Golf, Kodak Junior 1.
2nd row L-R: Ensign Fulvue Flex, Zeiss Contina lll, Agfa
Silette, Welmy, Weltaflex.
3rd row L-R: Kodak Brownie 127, AKA Relle, Agilux
Agimatic, Argus C3.
Front row: Keystone Capri, DeJur D-3, Staeble Telexon
85mm f5.6, Braun Paxette,
The flashes are L-R Zeiss Ikoblitz, AgfaLux, Ticky
The Agimatic and AKARelle are dead otherwise all the cameras work. The Polaroid is undergoing a 120 roll film conversion. The Argus has problems since I removed the lens and I cant get it to line up properly
I have an earlier version of the AKA Relle which is working perfectly but I cant figure out if it was still vailable in 1957 or whether the broken one replaced it.
It's hard collecting models specific to one year as manufacturers used the same name for years, and there were so many variants. My Bolex B8L has had to go since I discovered this particular variant wasn't made until 1960. I have another Nettar, that must go too it's 1947 not 57. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |

Oh I love early Smena`s. They are some what special. One of the best examples of the Russian camera arsenal. Very simple, very cheap but still feels great in you hands. however I`m not a big fan of the Zorki-2c or C for that matter. I find them to be very problematic in most cases. You almost don`t find them in good working condition. Plus they are not the bets "lookers" either.... Might I also suggest the Zenit-C ? A very cute, small SLR with the old Leica M39 mount. Such a fun camera. I LOVE mine _________________ I have many great Russian cameras and lenses for sale on my ebay account, please check it out: http://www.ebay.com/sch/piksius/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3686

cheers Dave, the Agilux shutter doesnt work and the AKA Relle has wind/shutter problems. I have a 1953 version of the AKA Relle in perfect working order but technically its not a '57 cam as this one replaced it.
I ordered the two Russians, both with '57 serials. I will look for a Zenit C. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |

So here are some more additions to my 57 family
Halina Prefect
Bilora Bella
Braun Paxette (original version Paxette) Not sure if its technically a 57 model as it was introduced a few years before but it became bottom of the range as newer models were introduced.
The photo was how I got it. Oil in the lens, jammed aperture and shutter and grubby as hell. It cleaned up and as usual a drop of lighter fluid sorted the shutter out. I took the lens apart (easy to do, cleaned, dried and re lubed the focus, and cleaned all (reachable) surfaces of the lens. Its quite acceptable now.
Braun Paxina 35, a 120 camera with f3.5 lens (hence the 35)
almost mint condition with a photax filter and lens hood.
Beautyflex. Grubby but shutter ok and lenss clean. Problem: The focus wasnt working too well and I pulled the front to straighten it out now its stuck in position and the focus knob just turns. Looks good cleaned up.
Zorki 2c. Works like a dream, rangefinder spot on . Cleaned up well, and a bit of Brasso on the lens body has moved most of the fine scratches.
Smena 1, grubby here, cleaned up since. Brasso works well on bakelite, removes crap, fine scratches and shines it lovely.
Kodak Brownie Starlet. Tinier than I thought it would be. Lovely
so thats 25 now with a couple more to come. I'll stop at 57. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |

I've often wondered about grabbing an Agimatic, sadly working ones seem very thin on the ground.
Agifolds, however, tons of those around. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Ian the Agimatic is a beautiful camera and is so lovely to hold. It oozes quality. The little Paxette is almost as nice. _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |
