Hi, I've been reading this forum for some time now but registered today to ask a question and join the community.

I found a m42 Chinonflex 100 / 2.8 at a second hand shop in town just today, i asked them to put it aside til tomorrow.
Asking price was €20 together with a Mamiya SLR. Lens condition seemed fine, no fungus, aperture working and focus smooth.
It's hard to find any real information on this lens and my knowledge about Chinons lineup is limited.

Should I pass on it for €20?

PS. It's a great forum.

Its a good price for any 100mm lens.
You can certainly resell it for at least as much on ebay.
Buy it and try it.

Thank you, I will check if there is anything else interesting there as well when I go back.

Welcome to the forum. Will you be using the lens on the SLR or a digital body? As luisalegria says, good price for any 100mm Smile

Thank you!

Both, but to 90% on my Canon EOS 450D... or that was the plan at least.

Uhm, hope this is not against forum rules to post an update like this.. but..

Somebody, stop me! I'm ruining myself... I did NOT just walk home with the 100/2.8.
It appears that a number of other gadgets stuck to my body as well...

All in all i got home with:
lenses...
M42 - Chinonflex 100/2.8
M42 - Industar 50/3.5
M42 - Soligor 300/4.5
M42 - Meyer Görlitz 135/3.5
PK - Pentax 40/2.8 pancake
PK - Soligor 135/3.5
Bodies:
Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL
Praktica Super TL x2
Pentax MG

And various bags, flashguns and stuff... total of €70

Hopefully I did not overpay on something, but it felt like a decent deal even if I almost bankcrupted myself.
I'll get some pictures up when I got my camera back later today or tomorrow.

Update: It appears the Soligor 135/3.5 may suffer from Fungus..! oh well, i got it for free anyways. Maybe i can clean it up.

Update2: That was easier than expected, took it apart, removed the slightly fungused rear element, cleaned the lenses it with anti bacterial stuff and alkohol.. All Clean and free from fungus. Even managed to put it back together again.

You should only pick up the 100mm Shocked

Congrats. They are still bargains.
Now you have to use them. Looking forward to see your photos.

Hello Rokk. Congratulations.

Good lenses there with you.

And the 100 mm should be a tomioka, nice one.

Good luck and images.

I know... I'm hopeless when I get going. Rolling Eyes But thank you!
I recently rediscovered my old manual lens-love again... Been stuck in AF-land for 4 years.

And I just couldn't resist, I feel a bit dissapointed about the slightly fungused 135 Soligor, but there was no damage after cleaning and it appears to work just fine. The pentax PK 40 / 2.8 Pancake for €5 felt like a must-buy-naow thing.. it's so cute! Surprised

If I admit what I picked up just the 2 last weeks people might lock me up... One thing i've learned is that Conditions on items you pick up from not so knowledgeable sellers are pretty random.. i've had 3 duds so far. Sad Two Fungused and one with really 'heavy' focus ring.
Maybe I should Create a new thread for Questions about other lenses instead of rambling on here? Or can I post lenses and what I paid here maybe and see if I fubared with the prices, or if I picked up something crappy?

PS. I raided 2 fleamarkets and a second hand shop to obtain it all. Pictures with the lenses will have to wait a bit, my 2 m42-EF adapters is borrowed to a friend for testing on his 7D. More adapters are enroute.

PS2. It feels good to have people here to get feedback from and share experiences with, without it. I would probably have picked up more crappy lenses and overpaid as well. Now I can at least feel that I got something decent for my money. This Forum and Site is a real asset. Thank you!

Well done you - at the last count my little collection ran to 180 lenses, so beware!! The tiny industar is a cute lens - a good performer too for what it is Smile

The 100mm should be an excellent lens. Excellent price too.

Interesting lot, and I think the resale value would be higher than what you paid.

The Soligor 300/4.5 may be a Sankyo product. It would be interesting if you could post a picture.

Nice group of gear for the money, well done. The Pentax pancake alone is worth more than 70 euro...

Because he has GAS. Rolling Eyes

Thank you all, and yes.. I've got GAS.
Didn't know the pancake was worth that much. Surprised

I'm about to embark on cleaning the blades of a lens... They're oily and won't move well past f/11.

Anyhow, the 100, 300 and industar is at a friends house for testing.
I've got the rest here, Please excuse the photos, taken in very dim light.. On my mousepad.

Excellent buy! I have a 135 and 300 Soligor, and they are both very good. But that can depend on which model Soligor they are - both of mine are the model with a chrome aperture ring with two small 'ears', an old line of Soligors.
The Industar is another one I have, and love. It's a lovely lens. And the Pentax Pancake has a good reputation.
The Pentax MG is a aperture priority camera so it's not fully manual, but it's a nice little camera that you can gain some control over the shutter by using the ISO setting.
I think you've got hours of fun ahead of you as you try them out. Very Happy
