A dull day with not much light to use; now I understand why this lens was made for shooting Hollywood films at low light situations, while retaining colorful images ...

you did the right thing to keep it

these are stunning colours under these conditions and looking at some details of the flowers or the skin of the tiger, this is a perfect result for wide open shots,
it seems to have a usable dof at F2

Thanks Thomas - the DOF is rather razor thin at f2 and needs a good shooting posture, but works very well actually as it allows high(er) speeds. The colors and contrast are quite amazing and I remember old Hollywood films shot with these Cooke Speed Panchros. They're still being used for some retro looks, most likely as it has that fine "glow" when shot wide open.

Yes, it really is! I'm glad I gave it a spin on my camera. Too bad I have no fitting 6x6 here, to see what it would do on slides.
