Does anyone know if they work this way?

Other way they should.

Just because 139Q winder is damn expensive and FX-D winders are giveaways.

If the mechanical and electrical couplings allow it to work one to the other, I should think it will also work the other way, too. There might be extras the expensive winder would do, of course.

Ten years ago I realized that the Yashica FX-D Quartz winder (called FX winder) would fit to my Contax 159MM - as soon as one saw the winder grip away. Have done this and it worked fine.

So it is very likely that it is the same with your case.

139Q doesn't have the bulge so I hope it fits without sawing. Smile

Well, got the winder. Fits perfectly. Works with the self test.

But how do I get it sync with camera? Doesn't co-operate. Is there a trick?

edit: the winder doesn't work without film?

Apologies for not having answered before, I use the FX winder on my 139q's and for winding works fine, but when I try to rewind, batteries get hot and discharge and nothing happens. Not sure if the winder is faulty or is some lack of compatibility.
Have you been able of trying yours?. Whithout film it doesn't work. The first thing it does when activated is to take over the control of the advancing lever and to pass to the first frame.

I had some contact problem. Now it works even without film.

Noisy thing this combo. Smile
