Had to send this back to Greg as the meter wasn't working. He replaced
the front cell:

back view of dead cell:

Now I'm wondering what roll to use first in it, Ferrania 100 and 400, KG100 and 400,
Kodak ColorPlus 200, Velvia 50, or BW film. Leaning towards a color film.

Nice camera and cheapest film for testing or use one of your other cameras for say 12 exposures and wind the film back and put in the C35 (erm of course counting the frames and add two on for inaccuracies)...many times I've used 24/36 exp film for three cameras but usually just two.

Excal, thanks, I decided on Ferrania 400 for its maiden voyage. Smile

Hey not many people save a little cam like this! Enjoy this great camera , I really , really love mine.

Thanks, Attila, RF focusing seems to be dead-on, and he converted voltage to the LR44/SR44 batteries.

That is great! ISO sifting works pretty well too with this camera.

Just for readers why I like so much this camera.

Camera/lens do well, Ferrania film does not Sad Strange, I usually always got very good results from Ferrania films.

Orio, Target's processing isn't helping, thinking they don't change out their chemicals that often.
Wasn't happy with all the artifacts and streaks on the last 5 rolls.

PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 2:33 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I agree with Orio, the camera and lens looks very nice, shame about the processing, colours are washed out. Maybe try Walmart?

PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 2:52 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Walmart did away with in-house processing and 35mm sent to Fuji, has to have prints which adds considerably
to the cost, plus waiting 1-2 weeks. Funny they don't make that stipulation with 120. Need to find some local yokel
place that will do a decent job of it. Tried to remove the greenish cast, with marginal improvement.

That's a shame, Walmart owns the Asda chain in the UK and I get my rolls dev'd and scanned there for 1.99 in an hour, they have a fuji machine and as I mostly shoot fujicolor 200 the results are always excellent.

Maybe you can get a Tetenal C-41 kit and do some home processing?

PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 3:42 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

I'll look for a Tetenal kit and see what I will need. My only other recourse is Walgreens, which is
nearly double in price to Target, but fairly decent work, guess you get what you pay for. For test
rolls, hummm...

H'mm It looks like your problem could be stale developer, but I'll have to ask the girl at our Asda when doing a CD...."does she dial in settings to the Fuji Frontier for Ferrania film and other makes". But in theory would think (no proof whatsoever) Japanese lenses and Fuji equipment works best with Fuji films and have had some crap results from no name films (i.e. nothing on edge of the neg) and the last was OOD Agfa.

I have Rite Aid do mine Bill. About $2.00 per roll. They have been doing mine for 2 years or so. I'm happy with their developing. The last couple of rolls Sams club did for me before they quit, they totally ruined. I was always happy with Walmart but of course they quit developing also.

PostPosted: Sat Apr 07, 2012 2:13 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Ron, that is a very nice price for developing. Down here Rite Aid also dropped their processing service some years ago.
Target is $3.15 per roll and Walgreens is $5.79, those are my choices, or CVS, maybe I should check to see if my neighborhood
CVS hired smarter help. Smile

That's a good point using Fuji film for Fuji processing. I may just stick with Fuji 200 and 400 for 35mm.

I've used about 100 rolls of Fuji 200 superia and about 20 rolls of 100 asa Reala, in the last 3 years and am very pleased with the results...they are esp good for shades of green.

Fuji superia 200 supermarket dev and scanned to CD, touched up for spots and exposure/gamma adjusted to suit my monitor, in Photoshop.

Reala 100asa the bright green was really like this at the time...supermarket dev and scanned to CD, touched up for spots and exposure/gamma adjusted to suit my monitor, in Photoshop.

Very impressed by the clarity, colors, and focus in that first shot, Excal. Cool I see you're not just
another pretty face, but know how to put something interesting in the box. Wink

Excal, is that the Meyer Orestor (bokeh monster) lens? Sharp results.

Yeah, I have had five copies of that lens, it's a really good one and they have 15 blades for smooth bokeh up until the last m42 ones then they switched to 6 blades.

A good copy is sharp even wide open but never quite matches a 4/135 or 3.5/135 Sonnar for sharpness.

I prefer the colours and bokeh of the Meyer/Pentacon but prefer the microcontrast and sharpness of the Sonnar, so I have kept one of each.

This is why they call it the bokeh monster:

Yes indeed.
I've just re-scanned a film (superia 200 neg) taken with an older Konica C35 (to yours) and looking thru the scan results find closer shots (you might remember the child eating ice cream).... were better than distant shots, mind you I've only used the camera with one roll of film so it might be a hasty judgement. Anyway here are my scans:-

This was difficult to get the colours right, yet the print from the supermarket is VG.... h'mm
