I have swapped my Planar 85 1.4 to this beauty. Yes I would like to keep both but I had to decide very quickly and guess what? I am totally in love in this lens. This is what I call 'lens character'. I like every aspect of this gem - Color, Contrast, Bokeh (uhhh), Sharpness, size/weight and so on - almost all from capital letters. Especially I am amazed with color, contrast and f/1.2 performance. Lens is really sharp from f/2.0 and f/1.2 is the sharpest wide open performance over fast lens I saw. Now I feel loosing my head with Minolta instead of Zeiss Smile well, nothing personal actually Wink . I have already purchased some little gems like rokkor-pf 50/1.7 and also hunting for Hexanon 40 now. Well just wanted to share some pics from it.

Almost all @1.2 aperture as I remember and shot on 5D classic:

100% crop (never thought it may be so cool @1.2) :

Good results. I like #4 most.

I'm also happy to see #5 - I didn't know they sold these clocks in Russia!

congrats! thanks to a mflenses member, I was lucky to find my Rokkor for cheap so I could keep my Planar
mine is nice at f2 http://forum.mflenses.com/rokkor-58-1-2-kritinias-t40739.html
at f1.2, I find it too soft for my taste http://forum.mflenses.com/rokkor-581-2-wo-5dii-t28790.html
I read that they are copy variation and that some are very good wide open but I don't plan to buy 5 to keep 1 Wink

Which version of the lens do you have, Arctures?

I think part of varying opinions about their sharpness wide open also has to do with the “glow” they exhibit wide open; it can give a soft look, but actually the details are still there beneath the glow.

Yes. Same situation as with the Nikkor 1.2/55

It is plain MC Rokkor, no X or PF with serial 277xxxx. Actually I still haven't had enough time to dig around what are the differences between those versions. Arkku, I want to point out that this glow gets somehow invisible in the bright light and the picture looks very sharp like here: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/828743/0&year=2009#7695442

In that image it's impossible to tell if this is the case; it could be the combination of small size and sharpening/local contrast enhancement. Also, bright light overall may just mean that the glow—which would be most prominent around the brightest highlights—is there but not as visible because the background is not dark enough.

I also think it may vary by focusing distance; for far-away subjects the glow seems less. I think many who complain about this lens lacking sharpness may have just tested on some close-up subjects.

These 1.2 lenses are really great. I'm really enjoying my canon fl 55/1.2 especially for portraits.

Actually these are Indian clocks. They make them in a small town in my home state. Apparantly it is the biggest exporter of clocks. It was the name that caught my eye, it means "time" in Indian. Sorry for a little distraction to your thread.

Heh, as the two f/1.2 lenses I happen to have are the MC Rokkor-PG 58mm f/1.2 and Canon FL 55mm f/1.2, I have to agree… they are great. These two have quite different characteristics, though.
