Great news for Canon EOS owners that are also Tamron Adaptall users: there are now Adaptall mount rings available for Canon EOS cameras, with built-in focus confirmation chip. The price is still high, but I guess it will come down in the next few weeks:

That's a cirrusadapter with the FC chip glued in and for the combination of the two it's not a bad price at all. First thing I noticed when I got a cirrusadapter was how much room there was for an FC chip. Now that somebody's making them I'm definitely interested. _________________ Dave - Moderator

Price is really OK. What kind of Tamron lenses does this work with? Adaptall? _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

"high price"? Not even. I paid that much for a chip not a year ago. If it's of decent quality, that's a good buy.
I don't know if that fit's all the early "Adaptall" but it certainly would fit the newer "Adaptall-2"
Here, I have a "chipped" M42 adapter and use an Adaptall-2 mount --to M42
This allows me to do either of two functions:
I can unscrew the Tamron/Adaptall and leave the M42 in the camera--to use another M42 lens, or--
I can unlatch the Adaptall from the lens and use another Adaptall lens. I "gutted" my Adaptall to get rid of the aperture control junk, which is unused. That allows for a very quick removal/ replacement, just as if it was part of the camera.
I STILL might just order one of these........ |

You can buy focus confirmation chips on their own and super glue them to your arse if you like. Any adapter is capable of AF confirm if you have the 2 components. I think Roxen can sell chips on their own. I think I payed about Ł20 for an EOS to adaptall mount without chip about a year ago so thats got to be a reasonable price. Makes yiou think that if these chips are being mass produced in Taiwan for peanuts somebodies making a tidy sum out of the MF fans.
Question, Are AF chips called AF frites in france? _________________ LENS LIST |
