OK just for fun which are your favourite SLR/ Lens combinations and why?
To Start off mine are
1 Fujica STX1 55mm F1.6
2. Cosina CSM Helios 58mm f2 (was the first combo I really used)
3. Canon AE1p 135mm f3.5 (the cam I replaced the first with after it was stolen it too got stolen)
I have others that I enjoy using I actually prefer using the original AE1, though no of the others tug my heart strings in the same way. I love the Fuji 55mm 1.6 and tend to use it the most. I have a Spotmatic and a Konica on the way so maybe things will change or the list added to. I am a big fan of the 50mm area of lens and I could live with just that focal length. |

Built in motor drive, small + an amazing fisheye lens sharp from 1m to infinity.
Fujica ST801 + Tomioka 21mm f3.5 M42
Great little camera M42 + a rare excellent wide lens.
Finally I not like much 35mm SLR I enjoy lot more medium format and 35mm range finder cameras. _________________ -------------------------------

fun to read what members enjoy shooting.
my present favorite combo is konica tc-x and hexar 40/1.8 because it is the ilghtest, most compact combo i can find for street shooting, and yet yields superior results as well.
i also really enjoy my kodak retina iv, probably with either the schneider 35/2.8 or 85/4 depending on the situation. holding the kodak to me is truly like holding a piece of history, and the schneider lenses are both compact amd very underrated in terms of quality.
finally, i guess it would be my ep2 with either the cv snapshot skopar 25/4, which is just so tiny and sharp that i am always pleased with result, or the cv heliar 75/2.5 because its one of the strongest IQ lenses ive ever used. at 150mm with the crop factor, its great for wandering wildlife or feeding birds, or outdoor portraits. _________________ Epson RD1 + Elmarit 21/2.8; Summarit 50/1.5; Summarit 75/2.5; Elmar-c 90/4; Sankyo Komura 135/2.8, Hektor 135/4.5; Braun Paxina 29 6x6; Photax Boyer Paris; Holga 120 Pano

I suppose with me it is a matter of a) what's newest in my collection & in best shape and b) what I'm using at the moment, as I'm not sure I really hate any of my cameras... well, the more classic manual focus ones anyway.
I'm getting a huge kick out of the Miranda D / Soligor 5cm PAD lens. The image quality is very good and the external PAD mechanism and front shutter is just simply fun.
To my surprise, as normally I like small and light over big and heavy, I really enjoy the Minolta XE's. In my case, as the 5 is freshly CLAd and in buttery smooth shape, I like it over the 7. The CLC works great (at least as long as you're shooting horizontal) and the camera operation is just so smooth. The MD 50/1.7 has some magic and the 35-70 is the sharpest zoom I've ever seen. _________________ -Jussi

It's a Pentacon 6 mount 180 and huge. You should see the looks I get when using it in public on the K1000!! LOL I need to shoot someone with that look on their face! Surprised me how sharp it is too with film. I've been using it and the 300 CZJ on my digital but I'm having more fun right now with the Film cameras. Just need to shoot some slides and see how they scan as my negative scans have a lot to be desired as yet. _________________ Big Dawg |
