usually we stay away from the 'touristic' attractions, but it is great fun and they are almost no tourist now (only from cruises)

Looks like great fun! What a beautiful place! When I lived in Italia, my Greek friend implored me to visit Mykonos. Sadly, I haven't- yet.

well those are really nice pictures, I like the place. you say there are no tourists now, which is great - if I was thinking to come to your country during winter, are services like hotels or restaurants running normally or are there any limitations? thanks:)

yes, there are limitations, tourism in winter is limited, only few hotels and restaurants stay open and weather can be variable
last year, Ryain air fly here the whole winter but it seems tourists were not happy enough and they stop it

2 more from Sunday with the distagon

I'd like to be there either to jump in this water and swim away.

I liked my stay in Greece a lot.

It seems it's not too dry as I can see quite a lot of green plants, isnt'it ?

Wow at the last two Distagon photos!! Shocked
Perhaps I should ride donkey too (a strong one!)
my landscapes will improve, and by the way, if speculators insist,
we all in Greece and Italy will have to ride donkeys soon like it or not anyways! Laughing

See the bright side of it, no more drivers not respecting safety distance behind you,
a simple donkey fart will keep them regularly spaced! Laughing

Some weeks ago I also was there.
But I didn't took a donkey because some of them had very ugly donkey diarrhea Very Happy

I will upload a funny pic of the same stairs next days Very Happy

Rhode Island is terrible Wink nearly every tourist has a DSLR.

Wow, very nice shots, Poilu. They remind me a trip we did a few years ago to the Greek islands. Love that strong light against the white walls, the small houses, the blue sea. At Santorini they have also donkeys to climb up the stairs up to the top of the hill. I didn't try them, they seem fragile (although I know they are robust).

I remember my father's village in Cordoba (southern Spain) 50 years ago, everybody had a donkey. Now everybody has a small motorbike...

Thanks for sharing, Poilu. Your pictures have made me to get back some nice memories.

Regards.
Jes.

Great pictures, beautifull places.

Orio, even for a mule we are a plague, I fear.
For people like we it might be possible to find some Belgian horses?
http://www.werkpaarden.com/default.asp?contentID=505

They can easily do the job and they are a more stable base for the camera!

things change, 30 years ago donkeys walked alone to the top with tourists
the descent was impressive, they were running so fast in those small street that I thought I would crash

here is a 100% crop on 5DII, they are certainly many lenses the same or sharper in borders but can you see how the wood skeleton pop on the background giving the Zeiss 3D effect
