Ah, but the quality you see in these pics makes up for that!
You're right, though. I used this lens for every shot I took with my very first SLR, a Zenit 3 in the 1960s. Because it was so fiddly to change the aperture, I used to set it somewhere around midway (depending on the weather) and not adjust it again unless it was really necessary. I just realised I STILL do that to this day!
