Yes, it did, and still does. Of course in our climate most rivers have shallow and narrow waters in the summer. During autumn it's a different story.

yes, actually it looks worse than it normally looks in more common conditions, because I was very close to the building,
and, rule of thumb, proximity to big buildings is tragic for architecture photos,
because the angle between base point and top point of building (with centre of lens as pivot point) widens,
and the wider it gets, the more evident the distortions of the lens become.
But I was too lazy to step back and make focal lenght longer 
In any case, yes, the 28-85 does distort visibly at the wide end.
