All the pictures of this one-day vacation have been taken with my Contax Vario-Sonnar 28-85 zoom lens, except where otherwise noted.

This and the following snapped portrait were taken along the river Trebbia,
which is where in 218 b.C. Hannibal inflicted to the unfit Roman commander Sempronius Longus one of the heaviest defeats in Roman military history

02. Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 ZS (M42)

From now on, all photos taken with Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 28-85 Contax CY

Impressive construction that bridge.
Did the river use to flow under it? I'm thinking about those arches.

Yes, it did, and still does. Of course in our climate most rivers have shallow and narrow waters in the summer. During autumn it's a different story. Wink

yes, actually it looks worse than it normally looks in more common conditions, because I was very close to the building,
and, rule of thumb, proximity to big buildings is tragic for architecture photos,
because the angle between base point and top point of building (with centre of lens as pivot point) widens,
and the wider it gets, the more evident the distortions of the lens become.
But I was too lazy to step back and make focal lenght longer Rolling Eyes
In any case, yes, the 28-85 does distort visibly at the wide end.
