Looks like a trip to the past, Orio Wink
The only modern detail is the surveillance cam on top right...
Good moment taken.

Regards.
Jes.

Ah! I remember that place!
As Jes said, a timeless image.

Great capture in a shaded area. Very well done for a challenging location. The picture translates very well into black and white.

Thank you!
I am trying to build a portfolio of black and white, street photos.
Not many - about 50 well selected ones.
Your feedback is always very helpful to understand what works and what not!

Another one with an old man:

here's a full size 100% crop from it:

This shows well I think what I mean when I say that going out with an M9 + Biogon 35mm lens equals going out with a DSLR + 200mm lens Surprised

I agree! As far as the two images, I like the old man standing among
the columns the most. It REALLY shows timeless view, as the columns
are no doubt quite old. I also like the scale exemplified by the man
under those columns. For me, this one really moves forward to my eyes,
possibly because of the massiveness of the building.

yes, it makes the man (every man, mankind) feel small, isn't it? Smile
Just like standing in front of a huge Sequoia.

The building is mediaeval, so yes, it is very old, based on the stone decorations I's say somewhere around 12th-13th century.
I will check if there is a label with the date next time I go there.

I's say somewhere around 12th-13th century.

Shocked

And here I thought that a building from the 18th century was old. Laughing

Italy has such a long history.

Orio, your thread title conjured up some gruesome image of an old man
ground up in sausage, but this is much more pleasant! Laughing While both
images are your usual excellence, have to agree with Laurence on the
second.

IQ of the crop is mind boggling... Shocked

Love the first shot Orio...a great look from the old guy Smile And the crop of the second shot works well too. That combination of lens/body/tog looks super sharp.

The eye contact in the first one is excellent. Great look on the guy's face. I wish I had the courage to take some street stuff.
