Hi.

First of all - thanks to Michael - (cooltouch) for great help with transaction Wink

I have done the conversion of this lens to EF mount.

good news - it's FULLY REVERSIBLE in this case.

I am able to turn the lens into the previous shape and it will work with FD camera

I have not done the aperture yet but I can not see any problem - so far Smile

I am beyond the infinity but the lens is mine. therefore. there is no need to tune it now Smile and infinity is there anyway. I am only limited at the shortest focal length.

- a few words about the lens itself -

Definitely coma but sharp and nice bokeh -- aberrations adequate to the speed 1.2

Distortion -- very well corrected - vignetting noticeable at f1.2

picture with the guitar - coma
picture with the car - left side - distortion test == upper right corner - vignetting

all pics at f1.2 - camera: EOS 5DMkII, PP - LightRoom as usual..

Nice. The cream bokeh is quite gradual from 1st photo.

It looks a reasonable lens for a 1.2.

What will you be using such a fast lens for?

Hi Trifox,
I get the same lense but it hit my 5D's mirror when I focus to infinity, do you get same problem with 5DII? do you get experience about that?

My lense is sharp form 1.2, it's make me amazing because I don't think that Canon FD is good lense.

Thanks

Thanks for comments

Martin - I think that the lens can be OK for portraits Wink

PnR - I shaved the mirror on my 5DMkII - I think you need to do the same Smile

I have edited the first post -- no holes have been made Smile

there is not surgery in this lens -- all is in perfect shape and it may be fully working on FD camera easily again.

a few more pictures

I love that focal length -- I would say is better than f=50mm

Picture 1 - f1.4
Picture 2 - f8 = the lamp shot is more than obvious - I am not gonna clean the lamp as it's very useful for test shot with all dust and mess on it Smile
Picture 3 - f1.2

Sad maybe it is only way Crying or Very sad you shaved 2400$ Crying or Very sad
How long would you shaved? Could you take some pics about your 5DII mirror?

Thanks Trifox

Shaving the mirror looks like a very 'dodgy' idea

In praktice -- that was the best I could have done Smile

I bought the camera brand new -- I waited one year and shaved the mirror

I have to dig out the shaved mirror - I have posted pics of before here

Very nice, Stan. You've managed to give the lens a much better try-out than I was able to. I think that, for an early chrome-nose optic, it is doing a very good job wide open.

Wow Stan, the last two with the flowers are knock-outs.

You may recall that, with the tests I did, I couldn't detect any difference between your lens and my FL 55mm f/1.2. Which has led me to believe that the two lenses share the same optical formula.

So all these great shots of yours are making me want to convert my FL 55. Ordinarily I wouldn't, but it isn't in collectible condition anyway.
