Where did the other thread mentioning this camera fair go? Anyway, I'll be there, anyone else?

I was rather disappointed last year, although I had walked around for hours
and checked out every table...

THEN attended the fair at Darmstadt/Germany and came home with full
pockets and great finds.

So not worth 2x 4 hours drive for sure - for me.

Lucky you - whenever I manage great finds my pockets are considerably emptier.. I found some things I liked in Houten before. Darmstadt sounds good but is a bit too far for me this time.

A quick glance in your lens list shows that it does not leave anything to be desired. The super rare items can not be found there anyway. However I always try to find the hidden gems - looking behind the obvious. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it is still a lot of fun. After all, walking along hundreds of stalls is much more entertaining and informative than browsing eBay listings.

When sellers (and not just ptivates) take part to such sales, you never know what pieces you might find.
Maybe this year they got other used lenses, that they did not have last year.
In my experience, in these fairs there are always items that show up every time (because sellers ask too much money)
and there are "new" lenses every time that show up for the first time.
Of course, distance has a meaning, so I can understand Klaus when he says that the fair must be worth the time, fatigue and money
of a 8-hours drive.

I do agree about the entertainment issue for sure!!

The funny thing is, that quite a few of the sellers at Houten are also present at the Darmstadt fair,
so that makes it easier for me to meet them at Darmstadt of course Wink
