Hello, I am brand new here and am having a bit of trouble getting started with my budget tilt shift set up. This area of photography is very new to me and I am not familiar with less common lens mounts.
I purchased a lens (Volna 3 2.8) off of Ebay. It was advertised as a Pentacon 6/Kiev mount and after receiving my Arax tilt adapter I do not think it is because it will not attach at all.
1. Can anyone please tell me what type of mount this is?
2. Am I being totally stupid?
3. Is there yet another adapter I can purchase so it works with my tilt adapter?
I don't really want to go through the hassle of returning and purchasing a more expensive lens at this stage.
Here is a link to the tilt adapter as well: araxfoto.com/accessories/tilt/
I have the weekend off and I just want to go out and shoot with this set up and this is driving me mad!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no, that is not a P6 volna. It is the kiev 88 screw mount.
I have several in p6 if you're interested...

Do you have a pic of the mount on the lens or a link to the ebay auction, if it has pics on it?
Might be the seller genuinely thought it was a P6 lens, but it's really a Kiev twist-mount (short screw thread).
edit.
For sure, that's a Kiev screw mount. If the seller sold it as a P6, you need a refund. _________________ Dave - Moderator

I'm fairly certain that you will need to buy the additional locking ring for the adapter. |

Thanks for all the help. I ended up purchasing a Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 80mm f2.8 instead for a decent price.
themoleman342, I might be interested what do you have.
Farside, the seller did sell it as a P6. He has been a good guy so far so I assume it was just an honest mistake.
sichko: thanks for the link, too bad I got impatient and bought a different lens..lol. I guess if it is true I'd need an additional locking ring etc... I'd rather just cut my losses and not have to buy all these adapters etc... although I would have saved a bit of money.
Thanks everyone |
