The FA* is by far my most loved prime in the ~85mm range. Unfortunately there's no MF version of it Wink And, unfortunately again, production of this magnificent lens was stopped in 2003. Many Pentaxians still hate Pentax for that... As of today Pentax still has no 85/1.4 in the available lens range.

Really not bad for an AF! Twisted Evil

How about obvious defects? We must find some! Laughing

Nope, not good for women.
I mean it.
Too sharp.

+1 not even good for man too, it shows every skin problem deeply.

Good for kids only with perfect skin.

I love the OOF transition of this lens.
I mean, not the blurred background. The way it transitions from focused to OOF.

Note so self: don't use sharpening on portraits, at least with this lens Smile

Thanks for the responses! Obviously, on a forum like this, I would get complaints about the lens being AF. Razz I would like to have its predecessor too, the SMC Pentax-A* 85/1.4, but that one is even sharper and prone to CA (if you remember, Orio).

But indeed, this is already my favorite lens. It just snaps into focus easily with excellent object separation.

Speaking about kids... This is not a good shot because of the cluttered background, but maybe you can see defects in this snapshot Orio Wink
