I have taken some pictures this morning, with the TAIR-11A that I am selling on Ebay, in order to hopefully promote the sale.

Amazing lens indeed, I am afraid people not respect at all because Russian.Make same lines as review and I will put on the front page of mflenses.com perhaps will help to redirect some traffic to your Ebay auction.
People has interesting thinking I sold less than one day Fujinon 85mm soft lens , rare lens, nothing else. This Tair11A much, much better and I think it will be hard to sell.

Yeah.
But I am not going to lower the price. This is a good price. If someone respects the lens and wants it, great, if not, I will keep having two Tairs in my roster.

Wonderful results, Orio, sure you want to sell it? I have a 11-2 "00"-series and the same experiences - I think this lens would never realize a price adequate to it's real value.

Yes, that's true, based on quality of image it should go in the same price league of the big names, but at least I will not give it away, if I don't get a decent price I will keep it.

I will take a picture of it when I'm back. It's looking like the tair 11 with black body instead of the aluminium of the original version. Made by KMZ itself but not mentioned on www.zenitcamera.com. I've never seen this lens in the net before. The serial numer "00" could be an indicator for a pre-series or something else.

And thanks for your wishes. Weather forecast for the region is about 15 degrees celsius. Shocked

My two Tairs are exactly like that: black, and with the serial number beginning with "00".
But they are marked TAIR-11A

Yes - but this 11-2 has the barrel of the 11 (only in black), not like the 11A. This confuses me a little bit...

Yes, I can confirm that. The TAIR-11A is a great lens. My father bought it around '85 or '86 I believe.
Here it is Very Happy


I think is better wide open than the other 135 mm lenses I have: Pentacon 2.8/135 (single coated but non the preset version) and Porst (rebranded Cosina) MC 2.8/135

Yes, that's the same look of my copies, only difference: I have that 00 in the beginning of the serial number. Which can not be explained with the year of production, because there was no CCCP anymore in the year 2000!

I would add that the image is much clearer and cleaner than the Pentacon's (at least, of my Pentacon) also when stopped down. The TAIR-11A is really a lens for the digital photography, although it wasn't made for that - but the clarity of image it brings is perfactly suited for digital photography.

I can understand you. About 20 years ago, I was very much into photography, probably even more than now, I had just finished the Uni and the civilian service, and I was unemployed. I had bought the Nikon FM2 with terrible efforts, but then, the only lenses I could afford were horrible used zooms of Sigma and Tamron. I was wishing so much for some prime lenses.
But I tell you something.
I had a lot of free time to enjoy photographing with what I had. Although of course at the time there was no digital so one had to take it easy with the expense for the film. But yet, I could really enjoy taking photographs.
Now? I have a good work and gain some decent money, but look at me: I'm here, miserable, having to work almost all around the clock with 40°, even in the weekend, to meet this stupid deadline. I can not go out and photograph.
Am I happier? No, I am just more frustrated.
Sometimes, like now, I wish I was still unemployed and with trash lenses, but able to go out and take photographs anytime.

Except the last one, all the pictures seem very flareish, Cosmin. Did you use the built-in hood?
My experience with the lens is completely different, very saturated colours and very good contrast.

Hello,

The lens are in good shape. No hase is present. The lower contrast and softer image could be the result of using the Porst 2X teleconverter (I think is certain). The same soft (if not even softer) pictures I made with the Pentacon 2.8/135 + 2X TC.
The results on film, using the same combo is even worst Sad .
With after processing, still, you could have some good shots (and need extra focallenght, with a relatively compact lens - compared with the Pentacon 4/300).

PS. Apropos, some of you, used that lens - Pentacon 4/300 ? How it is , wide open (with a 2X TC could became a 600mm f:8 lens, but with worst quality) ?

This certainly is the reason. Almost all TCs influence the performance badly.

Something went seriously wrong, perhaps haze or don't know. This lens is lot better what can I see on this pictures.
I made this shoots today with same lens.

Hello,

I would need a little help. Please, did anyone changed the mount of a TAIR 11A ( http://www3.yomogi.or.jp/gadsaito/tair11ac.jpg http://www3.yomogi.or.jp/gadsaito/tair11aa.jpg ) with one of this kind ( http://f64.ro/foto/7615614+T_adapter_C.jpg from http://f64.ro/det.php?id=255&pid=2876) ?
I have a M39 mount for my TAIR but I would like to "transform" (in a reversible way) the lens -if I can- into a K Pentax mount lens.
Thank you very much.

PS. T2 mount has 55mm registered distance ( http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/mounts.htm ). Could simple T mount have the same value ? I might have to cut from the adapter !?

Thank you for the tip but I have a M42 and M39 mount for the Tair. I want it to have a K pentax one.
At the concert I was, I didn't brought any M42 manual lens because I need to be much more careful (and more time) to mount them on the camera. This is more difficult wher you are in more crowded place and pretty dark. Once I have mounted a M42 lens with the adapter on, I can take down the adapter (lets say I need to usa a bayonet lens) only after I first unsrew the lens, take the tool for removing the adapter, and removing the adapter. Until I do this (usually with the mount facing down) dust might enter the mirror chamber and the subject/s I want it to "catch" is already gone. A bayonet is better than a screw mount, in this respect. I don't know if in the case of a M42-EOS adapter the lens cames off the camera with the adapter on. This might be an advantage.

Ah sounds difficult, ask in local photoshop a good techician he able to convert lens end to Pentax-K. Here we have some people who can do it I just heard never tried.
