Most of my macro photos are made with my DIY flash diffuser, I wrote about that in one of my earlier posts. However, I love the ones without flash better, because the background in macros with natural light is so much better! Yesterday and this morning I did some exercises with my Panagor 90mm without flash, and these are some of the results. The bee is shot at f/6.7 or soand ISO200, the hoverfly at f/5.6 and ISO400. Please, let me know what you think!

Contrast may be higher - you didn't have very sparkling natural light for these pictures. |

No, it's heavily overcast here, though very light! But I decreased contrast a bit, to get these gentle soft colours... _________________ Rense

Not bad at all!
The hit and miss rate I guess it's bigger without flash.

Olivier, I guess he's using a Pentax with built in IS, that's way he affords to shoot without flash. |

Yes, the hit and miss rate is bigger without flash. And I use the Pentax K20d with in-body shake reduction. It's perfect for this kind of work.... _________________ Rense

I don't know the hit and miss rate, I never use flash with human or animals
I don't want to hurt their eyes
I don't think IS help for moving target
