Yes it is a bargain lens that can produce good images as you've shown. Well done with the bee shot.

I have the 50 and the 50-2. Get a lens hood as these will flare like 70's jeans if you don't. Cool

I tried this one with LR3 beta.
Did not compare to Poilu version or TF version before posting. What do you think Poilu?
No sharpening WB, Black point, Recovery, and Saturation adjustments only.
Small size jpg

You are right. Almost all tessar-formula lenses offers near-APO performance. Some of them even use lanthanum glass - e.g. Industar 61 L/Z 50/2.8 or Super / S-M-C Macro Takumar 50/4 (I still can't find written proof of that, but level of radioactivity matches lanthanum glass) Smile

Andy - yes Smile -

that's why I stated to go up with WB balance --
the picture has been updated already -- you can see SMALL difference Smile

guys - I don't know -- it may be my laptop Smile It's still very well balanced since has been calibrated -- ehmm -- it was in 2005 ..

Your size is larger which helps also.
What temp do you have in this last edit?

PostPosted: Sat Mar 13, 2010 9:05 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

here we go:

1 - step -- we need to go down with VIBRANCE and SATURATION.. there's been also exposure set at lower level and contrast set higher..
and necessarily with GREEN/RED TINT more to the left -- to GREEN..

see this picture:

than adjust the noise reduction at reasonable level; also some sharpness added but I do this as usual...

finally -- we need to LEAVE the ADOBE COLOURs and use CAMERA FAITHFUL:

Thanks Stan Cool
I'm not surprised by WB. It still looks too cool for real open sunlight. Look at the greens. Wink

It does look more natural now Smile
We need to let Poilu tell us if it looks like real life.
Well Done Stanley. I learned a couple things from you today thank you. Cool

LR3 Beta is free for unlimited time. Well, until the official version is released. I have been trying it since January.
very much similar to LR2 with a few mods that I have yet to notice.

I am also more happy with the 'colder' version but it's personal ..

So -- poilu - for the colder version the values were:

Colour temperature: 3809
Tint: -3.

I'd like to do more pictures Wink let me know ...

I think we are seeing why Poilu was finding to orange in the first place.
The Canon bayer Cmos interprets the reds and greens off from each other in regard to light temperture (white balance).
I have seen the same in some of my images.
One can fiddle with the individual sliders in ACR and get closer to reality.
Looks like simple color temp setting goes off reality for one color or another.
Sorry for Hijack Poilu. Maybe I should open another thread.
Or maybe the greens were actually bleu Surprised
