Tair 11A 135mm f2.8
Pentacon 135mm f2.8
Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm

Takumar 4/200 - best bang for the money Wink

I only have two and both are from your list Attila (Pancolar and Sonnar). I couldn't agree more, especially for 50mm Pancolar - it's an unbelievably fun lens. And a great-looking lens, too. Very Happy
Flektogon is next on my to-buy list. Wink

The 58mm f/1.9 Primoplan because of its unique rendering.

CZJ 35/50/135mm are great but don't forget Takumar SMC 50/1.4 and Helios 58/2.

Haven't many M42 lenses.... but the super tak 35mm f3.5 is a nice lens and don't forget the Meyer 135mm Orestor and 50mm Oreston.

Super Takumar 55/1.8 or 55/2 - just great all round

CZJ Flektogon for close up fun

CZJ sonnar 135/3.5 - particularly for flowers and stuff

Pentacon 135/2.8 preset for the bokeh, 135/2.8 auto/electric for sharpness

Industar 50-2 for making people look!

Helios 44-2 for the swirls

I can't comment on many of the lenses listed, as I've only got M42 Taks. I've got the Takumar 200mm F3.5, and think it's great. If the F4 is similar, then I can't argue the above at all. Very Happy

I agree with the helios 44
and dont forget the Super MC Takumar 50mm f 1.4!

Repeating Attila's Pentacon 135mm f2.8 and Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm,
adding any Takumar, but especially 2/35, 1.4/50, 1.8/55, 2.8/105, 3.5/28, 4.5/20, 3.5/24, S-M-C 2.5/135 II, S-M-C 1.8/85, and any of the macro-takumars. Good low price/high performance ratio takumar selections are 3.5/135, 1.8/55, 3.5/28, and 3.5/35.

Heh, I have every lens on your list. I wouldn't put Tair-11A on the list, though; it's a good lens but in my opinion not a “must”. I'd add:

Helios-44-2 – I'd recommend this as a cheap “starter lens”.

Fujinon 55mm f/1.8 – Cheap to find with a Fujica body but excellent quality + unique Fuji colours & character.

I have never seen the 55/1.8 and 50/1.4 Takumars compared alongside each other but the majority speak favoribly of both. Is there really much difference in lens resolution between the two? or do you just pay 3x - 5x more for 1.4 aperture?

erm well I've never rated the super/auto tak 55/f1.8 as very good for sharpness and nor the super 135mm f3.5, but the super 35mm f3.5 is very good.

Good to see so many great lenses in this list, thank you!

I wish to try in future 2/35mm Takumar and 20mm f4.5.
Some more addition from my experience

Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f2
Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 75mm f1.5
Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 80mm f1.8
Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f2.8

Carl Zeiss Tessar 50mm f2.8 Oberkochen

I agree with Atilla on the CZJ Tessar 2.8/50. They are very easy to find and a good copy is fantastic, better than the Pancolar 1.8/50 IMO and a very good lens for the small cost.

I have tried a Super-Tak 1.8/55 and dislike it compared to the Super 1.8/50 and 1.4/50. The 1.4/50 Super is my favourite standard lens out of 12 tried so far, especially the first version. It changes character from dreamy and great for portraits around wide open to sharper at f4 and on.

A 1.4/50 S-M-C is on the way to replace it so it will be interesting to compare.

The Super/SMC Tak 2/35 is also on my list to try and compare to the Mir-1B.

The Super Tak 55/1.8 and 55/2 is a fantastic lens for the money (£20-30) and way better than the cheaper Helios and Pentacon standard lenses. For someone on a budget who can't afford the 50/1.4, the 55mm standard is superb IMO.

Voigtländer Color-Ultron 50/1.8 (or Zeiss Ultron 50/1.Cool

Great photo, is that the 55/1.8?. Agree on it being a lot better than the Pentacon and the Helios 44-2/M. The 50/1.4 can often be found for £40 which is not a great deal more. If on a budget I'd consider the CZJ Tessar 2.8/50 though which is often around £20:

I never tried any Takumar lenses. I have Pentacon 200/4, 15 blades. Someone wants it to traded with Tak 55/2. He'll add about $30 to me as part of trading. I want to know is it worthy ? I saw picture taken with his lens (wide open) isn't impressive
Thanks
