Hi everyone,

I searched through 5 pages on this section, but could not find any info.

I've tried the cheap China made adapters and it was largely a hit & miss affair.

I'm looking at the possibility of getting a high quality adapter for Nikon lens which I will be using for work purposes, and so far, two possibilities come up, based solely on brand reputation:

Fotodiox Pro adapter (http://cgi.ebay.com/Fotodiox-Nikon-Lens-Canon-EOS-Mount-Adapter-Pro-Series_W0QQitemZ390087432918QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLens_Accessories?hash=item5ad305dad6)

and

Novoflex Germany (http://www.novoflex.com/index.php)

The Fotodiox goes for US$76 shipping included, and the Novoflex for significantly more at E149 before shipping.

I've had nothing but exceptional customer service from Fotodiox when I bought a consumer grade adapter, but have never dealt with Noovoflex before.

Has anyone tried any of these two adapters, and could you share your experience, please?

Well Novoflex was NEVER cheap in their many decades of having just excellent repuation for their craftsmanship and products, especially Macro and Adaptors. They were THE standard long time for third party adaptors.

Fotodiox has good products and good service, no question.

It's a bit like cars, they both bring you from A to B, but do you like Volkswagen or Mercedes better?.

[I have a huge collection of Novoflex adaptors since long, even before the Chinese manufacturers discovered and flooded that market - I'm sure the latter ones will have fallen apart in a few years, whereas my old Novoflex ones will last...but quality has its price]

Ditto that.
Novoflex adapters are definitely worth getting, but keep your eyes open and you might find one at less than full price.

Thanks Klaus.

Thanks Dave.

I'm keeping an eye open for used ones or in case someone has one and doesn't have need for it. If you happen to know od someone like that, could you let me know, please?

THANKS & CHEERS!

Basically you get what you pay for.

I never had any problems with the lower cost adapters (except sometimes for infinite focus on some).

I am not sure what problems you have faced with your adapters, i would appreciate it if you can explain a little more.

The fotodiox adapter is also a China made adapter, however, it is a premium Chinese adapter, about 2-3 times more expensive. This adapter is made by a Chinese camera factory and meets higher tolerance standards.

Most other adapters are made out of parts (each by small shops) and then assembled by work groups. Since there is no total process control from the start to the end, the quality on these will fluctuate more, however, in most cases, still within the acceptable ranges.

I used a Fotodiox adapter for mounting my Mamiya M645 lenses to a Nikon mounted camera. I am completely satisfied with the product. It is the pro series one and it fits snuggly.

Here are two samples taken, respectively using a 210mm and 80mm Mamiya Sekor C lenses for M645 camera.

I have a novoflex adapter for leica/nikon. I swear I could run over it with a tank and not dent it.

The Novoflex adapters are of the highest quality. If you can afford it buy it. I see the nikon to eos adapters on thebay quite often. Haven't tried a fotodiox pro yet, the regular fotodiox is iffy.

I managed to drop my Lieca R 280/f2.8 recently. The novoflex luckily took the brunt of the fall. I would say it saved my lens. However it was ruined. I think the tank would ruin it too. Laughing

Small price to save a lens like that, but I am really surprised the novoflex was destroyed, must have been some fall.

The adapter is not made of hardened steel although of much better quality than the brass/bronze/copper models coming from China. It
was only about a meter drop to the floor, but it landed on an angle right on the bayonet part and deformed it there. It was pretty ugly.
