Happy New Year to all of you!

Cound't think of a good headline for this thread, but I have taken some various winter captures with the focal lenght 135 (no specific reason really, just testing). Just curious what you think of them.
The light effects can be quite interesting this time of the year. Especially when it's as cold as it is now.

Despite my best effort to keep down the number of lens types to Nikkors and Zeiss I couldn't resist bying this Takumar. This one is shot wide open. The bokeh is a bit odd.

Cold mist (Nikkor)

Nikkor

This one is from the MIR 3.5/20 so I'm not fully cosistent with my 135 thread, but I liked this one.

The last one would look nice on a Christmas card.

Thanks!

It's the street lights which gives the sky that colour when it is a little misty.

Ya most of the time I'm swearing a blue streak about them while shooting astro stuff but every now and then...the light looks great. As in your case.

Very nice series, but it looks really cold. The last shot is a winner. I also like the nikon samples, because it's a lens that tends to get "lost", not attract much attention.

Now, wow! The series is great, the last shot has wonderful light I agree. My personal favorite is Cold mist, it has composition and color I would put in frames.

The last one and the one and the one with the 3 jugs (or whatever they are) with frozen water are my picks.

Thanks a lot guys!

Patrick:
The Nikkor 2.8/135 seems to be one of the cheaper MF primes from Nikon (apart from E-series), but so far I'm quite pleased with it. The reason it's not so popular could perhaps be that 135 is not considered an ideal focal lenght on a crop sensor. Too long for portraits and too short for wildlife.

Vilhelm:
I agree with your choice of fav, perhaps mostly because it's a rare moment. It's not so often I see mist like this obscuring the sun, and even more seldom I have the camera around when I see it.

Tony:
I'm very pleased with the MIR. Mechanically it's not great. The F-stop ring is flimsy and the Iris is slow and unpredicatble, but the reslut often is fine anyway.

Martin:
The jugs are some kind of sculptures placed downstream form a hydro plant. Apparently water is lead through them even during winter.

Stunning set of photographs. So many different moods ... "cold mist" is my favourite.

Cheers
Tobias

Thanks a lot guys! Your comments are much appreciated.

I got the Super Tak for less than 30 Euro and it's in great condition, almost as new. Seems to be good value for the money. Haven't been able to test i so much though.

Mine is on it's way!! £30 from the bay of e. Very Happy

It seems to be very well built and produces sharp images (maybe not so obvious in the previous captures in this thread). See test shot below at f/8.
I'm not sure I like the bokeh in some situations.

erm I have still have the receipt and paid £40 s/h in 1980.

From the Wallace Heaton blue book:-
New price in 1967 was £58
but for £5 less could have bought the 105 f2.8 and £5 more 85mm f1.9

In 1967 a Exakta Zeiss sonnar 135mm f4 was cheaper @ £47 than the super tak 135mm f3.5
