I was at a swap meet on Sunday and spied part of a familiar looking
camera case peeking out from behind a pile of other merchandise on a
seller's table. I went in for a closer look and opened the case to find this
lovely camera:
A Retina IIIC (big C) in near mint condition. I asked for the price and the
seller said $35
It didn't take me long to think about that deal. I didn't care if it worked or not
at that price!
When I got it home the shutter was a bit sticky but it cleaned up easily
and is now working fine. The meter also works and the case had the
meter diffusion attachment tucked away inside. Everything in beautiful
condition including the Schneider 50/2 lens.
One of my best finds of the year! |

I guess the meter diffusion attachment is the metal lid with a tiny hole in it. I had one on my Franka but unfortunately it has come off. Can you tell me what the purpose of it is? _________________ View or buy my photos at:

One of my old selenium meters - Hanimex Sekonic - has that too. It's designed to cut the light down by a known amount and let you take readings in a bright environment, otherwise the cell output would shoot to full scale and give nonsense readings. There's no separate scale for use of it, it's left to the user to know what's right. _________________ Dave - Moderator

No, it's a rectangular plastic attachment that slides onto the face of the meter
and turns it into an incident meter. It's not shown in my photo above. The
camera case has a little pocket for holding it. These are often lost so many
IIIC's you find don't include it. |
