It could be done with a wide angle, if I wanted. I made the setup, camera on the tripod with the cable release on continuous and the trap focus on. Focussed on the place where I expected the Robin to land (he always sits there before going to the feeder) and left everything. Sat on the couch drinking coffee while the camera did the work. So, not lucky I guess, just some good preperations! _________________ Rense

And to think my fingers were sticking to the frozen metal as I was trying to focus, whilst you were in the warm drinking coffee!

Sven, it's not done by the remote, but with the cable release in the locked position. So the camera wants to fire....but it is impossible because nothing is in focus. Only when something apears at the AF point the camera will shoot! Continuously, because I asked.

Well, excellent shot in every respect. Perfect framing, tack sharp, nice smooth bokeh, what else? . Interesting feature that "catch in focus" for bird (or whatever animal) "hunters". Also good article on the matter.
Cheers and happy Christmas!.
