How does this work exactly? Does it make the beep if enabled and show the AF points? I found them for $13.50 now and was wondering if it is worth it? _________________ Camera: Canon 20D, Nikon EM.

The AF confirm M42 adapter fools the camera to think there is a lens attached. This allows the camera to operate in Aperture Priority mode or Manual mode.
In A mode, the camera automatically adjusts shutter speed, although U usually use M mode.
I use center spot focusing. When the center is focused (in either mode), a green square appears in the screen indicating correct focus. In the optical view finder a green dot also appears, indicating focus.
I find AF adapters very handy (but I should note a lot of members do not trust them). |

There are a lot of threads and pages concerning an adapter for Canon and manual lenses, hopefully some of these will answer your questions :)

I have used Nikkor MF 50/1.2 and many M42 lenses with M42-Nikon converter and the camera (D90) confirms the focus by the green dot appear in the viewfinder. Using it with the nikkor lens was OK, but with the M42 lenses it wasn't perfect. There is a little difference, but with a little practice i get used to . _________________ SLR Cameras:Zenit 122, Praktica MTL5B, Nikon D90, Nikon F90x
