Just did all these items this evening. They include many Takumars, Kiron Vivitars, Tamrons, refurbished film cameras, a hard to find Yashica 300, some other normals, etc.
While I was uploading them - somewhat time consuming because TurboLister made me redo many of them for some unexplained reason - 8 of the 32 already sold. Those 8 include 2 nice Tamrons and 2 nice refurbished film cameras.
But there are as of now 2 other Tamrons and 2 other refurbed film cameras still available as well as all the taks, etc.
Search for seller jmiro and all my auctions will become visible.
PS: later edit
I forgot one of the items that might be of interest to some.
There is as of now still a TOMIOKA 55mm f1.2 multicoated lens in PK mount
Still later edit
TOMIOKA sold to a MFLenses participating member

Yes but Attila allows to post links to Ebay auctions.
What is not allowed is to sell locally-only on the forum. _________________ Orio, Administrator

I am sorry if my saying I have Ebay listings troubled some.
My understanding was perhaps mistaken.
It was and is that MFLenses members who have contributed to the fora here would be given special attention and, unless there were some reason for suspicion, allowed to bid on any item wherever they may be. This has already happened in less than the last 24 hours with some MFLenses members who fit the above conditions. They purchased and paid and all are I hope happy.
Why would they be given special attention no matter where they reside? Perhaps I flatter my judgments of character but I think I can make a fairly good "read" of a person's character from not that many submissions. Put otherwise, I would be willing to take such a chance based on my judgments and if I were wrong it would not be the first time or the end of the world. But I have not been hurt in over 10 years on Ebay, to take but one example.
Why favor USA Ebay buyers as I seem to do? Some people chatter about the difficulty of forms and the customs of other postal systems. For me those are not problems in any way and have no relevance. Rather it is because of the way USA Ebay and Paypal work. Both can and do certify USA addresses, bank accounts and credit cards. They cannot or will not do so for any other country. Not merely is there that difference but it is possible in the USA to institute "legal" of various sorts proceedings to a USA resident if something were to go awry. That is if nothing else not practically possible for someone in the USA in relation to a person in another country.
I do not know how Ebay and Paypal work in other countries but that is the way they work in the USA for USA residents in comparison to non-USA residents.
I did not put up possible sale items on MFLenses before I did Ebay because of the level of shipping costs and VAT or other "taxes" for non-USA residents in comparison to the value of just about all I was selling. (If I were to sell a Biotar 75 or a Pancolar 80 or a Leica R 180/3.4 I would most probably start here if for no other reason than many here appreciate what these lenses can do in ways that many others do not and one would also have the feeling the lens would go to a person who could duly appreciate it. Moreover shipping and other costs would probably be minor in comparison to the price of the item.)
I think my prices are eminently fair ones. Many of the best items have been taken in less than 24 hours. Some would perhaps think my pricing too generous. Some on these fora ask twice as much as I did for the same item same condition. But most of those items so priced seem not to move or wait long for a taker. I do not wish to quarrel with other people's ways of selling. In less than 24 hours I have sold 16 of the 32 items I put up. You can look at my completed sale items and judge if I am fair or perhaps just a bad businessperson if that is how wish to you look at it. I do not think of myself as in a "business" but as someone who has been involved in an activity for most of my rather now long life that allows for a wide range of enjoyments that I would not characterize as business.
Probably now about 18 months ago I purchased on Ebay from MFLenses member 'Laurence' a lens I had used a good deal in the past but had sold when I moved onto other formats. We chatted in emails about each other's histories and he encouraged me to come here. I could not do so until recently. I thank Attila and Orio who seem to have been the founders and also all the others since then who have made coming here a place of enjoyment and learning. Also part of what has been accomplished is that who people are becomes evident and thus it is for me and I presume others a place where "business" can be done.
One last remark in a long post. Now quite some years ago I sold worldwide on Ebay blocking very few if any countries. That worked well then since just about all those who bid seriously on "interesting" photographic items built and continued to build a history of people whom one could not merely trust but also of ones who were knowledgeable and appreciative of the "proper" kinds of things. All sorts of things have changed that. Many, many more people are involved and the sheer size, if nothing else, changes what was once possible. In addition, Ebay's policies of not showing bidder's names does not allow for the possibility of interesting side conversations about items of all sorts no matter who won what. There are perfectly good reasons for the change of policy - people being unreasonably bothered or scammed or etc. It is over and that is that. However these people who interacted with each other were from all parts of the world. To a large degree, MFLenses is quite like Ebay used to be and all who participate should be proud of that.
Such deep changes in people's interactions do not have to come from "bad" or "ignorant" people or practices. For many years many of the best conversations and relationships I had started from someone calling up and saying I see that you too are one of the few people who read such and such a book from the library. (Not unlike the email conversations Laurence and I for a while had.) This was possible because any book had a little pocket on the inside rear cover into which a card was placed. On the card one wrote one’s name, "address", and the date the book was taken out. I presume when the practice started no one tried to justify it by what turned out to be very indirect but terribly important consequences for interesting and sometimes deep human interactions. All such is "history" at least in my life and in those whom I know. Sad? Sure. What replaced it? Bar card readers of a small pasted on each book patch. Does it have immense advantages on all sorts of levels for people's use of books. Sure. Was something important lost? Sure. Enjoy and appreciate what you have.

If member jmiro does not want to sell outside USA he can post the link to the ebay auctions, as per Attila's rule.
We can not prevent the other members to contact him via PM then.
Why Paypal in USA such a big problem Jmiro? If you don't trust the buyer, just have the Paypal payment transferred to your bank account and ship the goods only after the money is credited to your bank.
Just let the buyer know about it before the transaction is closed.
No need to write a novel about this.

I wish it were now this simple with USA Ebay/Paypal. I did this in the past but it does not work now in the USA. I do not know how it works anywhere else.
In order to be a "verified" Ebay/Paypal person one has to give them a checking account # and a credit card #. They check from time to time to see if both are still "good." Given many new policies that favor the seller, Ebay/Paypal will, if a buyer complains that no item received, etc., take funds to "payback" the buyer from either account if there is no cash in the Paypal account. This has not happened to me. But it has to others who are upstanding sellers. I have asked Ebay/Paypal if this can now happen and after much empty chatter and delay they finally say yes.
This goes along with USA sellers being not able to leave a neutral or negative comment of any sort and with making it very hard and complicated to get fee return when people do not pay. In addition for practical purposes buyers who do not pay are not made publicly known to others as they were in the past. Moreover, buyers must use Paypal to check out. Other forms of payment are banished. This gives USA Ebay/Paypal immense control over just about anything.
It is now very different from what it was 18 months ago when I last sold on Ebay |

I still can't see where the problem would be. Always ship registered and keep the receipt. And write clearly in the auction, that you are not responsible for lost packages and that by buying, the buyer accepts this condition. And offer insurance shipping making clear that you can not accept to refund any lost shipment for which the buyer did not pay the insurance.

I can't see how the immense control of USA Ebay/Paypal could motivate your decision to ship to USA only.
The type of risk you describe, could hit you also when you sell to USA only.

Joking aside. I have never experienced anything but very positive results from selling to global neighbors.

Good luck with your sales and congratulations on your free International advertising - next time, perhaps consider advertising on US-only accessible boards (effort aside and all that) _________________

I was actually being kinda serious Attila - with situations like this, in a lot of ways, it feels like being the poor penguin who gets the slap on the back in your avatar _________________

I already apologized above. I thought the understanding on the board was that any participating member such as yourself was quite welcome to bid. As I said many days ago, any such request would be honored. Even before I said that, some members from the board made requests and they were honored and the deals are finished.
I made a mistake about what I thought was common understanding. I will not make such a mistake again.
If you wish or some other participating member wishes any items that are left, please say so and I will be happy to oblige. |

Just want to say that I bought two good lenses from jmiro on ebay. Without focusing on the issue of shipping out of US or not, it is really good for me that jmiro post a thread here so I know immediately these lenses are on sale for good price.
For shipping outside of US, I think its safe(at least) to sell to the members here in most case. And selling it here, the buyer just pay through paypal and the seller don't have any big risk, right(sorry if I am wrong, I am not very familiar with the rules of Paypal as a seller)?
Thanks for the lens, can not wait to see them!
