Hello Tuanan.
If you speak about the Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8 USM Macro, I have it and it is a very good lens. Notice that this is an AF lens.
It's very sharp, but when shooting macro you really have to be very steady (like all macro lenses...).
What I like very much is that its minimum focus range is 29 cm.
Here are some shots taken with it :

Hi Olivier,
great shots. Congrats !
Do you own the (old) Makro 100 USM or the new one Makro 100 USM IS L which is on the market since 4-6 weeks ?
I have the old one too and think about the new one which may have some advantages with the IS.

Tuanan,
I just have one Canon macro lens : the 2.8/100mm USM. This is not a L lens and it is black.
I "only" have one L lens : the great white 4/70-200mm L IS USM.
------------------------------------------
Rolf,
Thanks for kind words, but yours are fantastic.
I have the same as yours.
Effectively, the new one seems great as IS should bring a lot to stability in this domain.
I got the 2.8/100mm and the 4/70-200mm in Germany :

Farside,
I didn't upload the full sized pics (and the forum won't let me do such a thing by the way).
They are on imageshack and I included them in the post by using [img] [/img]
Isn't it the good way to operate ?
I changed "img" by "url" in the previous post but it doesn't do the same.
Thank you in advance to tell me wether the "img" operation is good or not. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

What was happening was the page was loading the full-sized pics from IS, without asking me (or anyone) if it was ok to do that, such is the power of the 'img' command
The links are working fine now, and you could use a thumbnail from Imageshack if you wanted. _________________ Dave - Moderator

I understand, Farside.
The links are not working so well, because when you click on them a window appears but not at the real size.
To get the real size, you must copy and paste the link, which opens Imageshack and then you can have the real size by clickoing on the imageshack window.

GREAT !
I'm sure you will love it !
Please share your pics.
An advice : don't stay too much at f2.8. At the beginning, I wanted to take pictures with little focus range and shot at f2.8 but I discovered later that in many cases it is better to shoot with a wider focus range, such as F8 or even f11. Remember that when you are very close of your subjects, f2.8 means a very restreint focus range and even at f8 this focus range is tiny.
So don't discourage yourself. Look at the screen and shoot again. Try different apertures and speeds. If not enough speed, don't hesitate to pass to 400 Iso.
Have fun !
We wait for your pics. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

On the IS page for each image properties you'll find an option to cutnpaste the address for a thumbnail. Simply copy the thumbnail address to here and a small image will appear in your post. Clicking on the thumbnail will open the full size one in a new window, with any luck.
IS seems to be getting crapper all the time, with missing pics and links not working. _________________ Dave - Moderator

It confirms what I felt seeing at the link's pics.
In the conclusion they say :
Technically the lens is probably not superior to the conventional 100mm f/2.8 USM macro but it offers a slightly better build quality inc. weather sealing and the new hybrid IS. The AF performance is about on par and as such vastly better than third party alternatives. Not an easy decision ... _________________ Olivier - Moderator
