Well, I received the Arsat a few weeks ago. I wasn't expecting much,
but I was wrong. I also wasn't expecting to use it much. I was
wrong again.
This is a heavy lens, and a well-built lens, much to my surprise.
The workmanship is excellent, and even the case with the leather
board to carry the filters is of premium soft leather with
beautiful cushioning.
Optically, a surpise as well. Sharp enough, especially for such a wide
lens. It is written in a few Internet articles that it is a 180-degree
field of view lens. My estimate is that it really is about 165-degrees.
Approximately equal to a 16mm lens in the 35 camera world.
The focus is dampened nicely, and the click stops are solid and true. A
big surprise also is the handling of flare. Again, I've read about the flare
problems, but haven't experienced really bad flaring, even with the sun
nearly in the frame of view. I will post some pictures to show that.
I am really happy with this lens, and it's already seeing use for my
landscape shots. Maybe I'm just easy to please, but it surely is
better than what I've heard about it in print.
Yes, I enhanced the coating reflection with a boost of saturation,
just to make it prettier.

Yeah, it fits the Pentax 645 quite nicely.
Rawhead, take a look in the Slides Gallery, I have some initial shots
from the Arsat in there. I'll be taking more of course, as I have yet
to try any real closeup shots wide open - which should give me a
good idea of the effectiveness of the lens.
Thanks as always, folks.
