I shot a roll of Ilford XP2 through my 1st Exakta 500 (the 2nd one arrived today).
And the film came out blank from the processor. I changed lenses
3 times and am wondering if I inadvertently exposed the film somehow.
Perusing what info I have doesn't mention exposing film when changing
lenses. Pretty sick about this, had what I hoped were some great shots on
that roll. Ilford XP2 is like the C41 Kodak BW film and CVS processes that film
all the time, so I'm hesitant to blame them for this.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I had Exakta 500 and I did change lens trouble free. Perhaps film not transported well. _________________ -------------------------------

Hummm, even so, wouldn't I have some exposures? The rewind lever was
moving like it should when I advanced the film. Sure beats me about this. |

Put a cheap roll inside and investigate film advance and how shutter works without lens I am pretty sure you will find an answer if not ,+1 film wasn't advanced I had same trouble with Yashica FR1.
I had a P6 it did transport film from 1-6 and after made a jump to 11 on film advance display , but did stay on 7 frame. _________________ -------------------------------

Is the shutter actually firing? Maybe all you're hearing is the mirror slap. _________________ Dave - Moderator

Dave, you nailed it on the head! The knurled surround of the shutter release on both the Sonnar and the Tessar were screwed down to where the blades wouldn't move, dunno how that happened, but basically I would have about the same results shooting with the lens cap left on. |
