Hi,
I have several cool lenses from Meyer:
Primotar 135/3.5
Telemegor 180/5.5
Telemegor 400/5.5
Trioplan 100/2.8
All of these can be easily separated to lens unit and focusing unit by simple "jar style" unscrewing.
This is fantastic feature in case of lens cleaning, relubing etc.
I wonder, if my Primotar 180/3.5 can do that either?
Thank You in advance for enlightenment. _________________ analog system: Pentax K & M42

Yes, the Primotar can easily be disassembled. I did that myself, as you can see here:

Yes, I know how easy it is to disassembly Primotar -
I've done the same with the two 135/3.5
But the question is about splitting the lens into two parts,
look here fo example of such trick with Telemegor 400/5.5,
look at third image from this auction

Oh, you mean that by splitting
Unfortunately I don't know. I'll check this out tonight. _________________ Peter - Moderator

OK,
I've managed to discover it on my own, at last, and happily did not broke the lens trying to unscrew
lens head.
So the question was "Primotar 180/5.5 - separable?"
And the verdict is Yes, and No.
Yes - lens can be splitted into two parts, all You need is to loose two little screws sitting
in the barrel just before tripod mount collar.
Then You can easily unscrew front part from the rear part.
No - it does not work as in little Primotar 135/3.5, Telemegors 180-250-400/5.5 and Trioplan 100/2.8,
because both optical and focusing department stays in the front segment
Happily, there is enough of naked helicoid to give it some cleaning and re-grease it,
and the rear lens element is now easy to reach.
There are another dismantable screws and ring visible on the front part, but I did not touch them
as now I have all what I wanted . _________________ analog system: Pentax K & M42

How do you go about taking apart the trioplan 100mm, so that I can re lube it? Taking out the lens elements is pretty straight forward but after that I am stuck! |
