Yet another 135mm thread

Hello all!

I've been missing a 135mm in my collection, and as i have read, there's plenty of choices in this focal length, i would like to have some recommendations for a really light weight 135mm, i was looking into the zuiko 3.5/135mm but i've read that it has lack of contrast. I've had some 2/135mm in the past and my main requirement is lightweight, so an f2.8 is not necessary but considered if the light weight requirement is met. Please enlighten me with your opinions if anyone cares to share their experiences.

Small dimensions + good resolution = Jupiter-11A 135/4. Slightly heavier is Jupiter-37A and 37AM 135/3.5. There are many versions of this lens - some of them are multi-coated.

Same (or almost identical) lens scheme is used by CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5 (later version is MCed) or Super / S-M-C Takumar 135/3.5.

But only Jupiter has round aperture (10 rounded blades).

Nikkor 135/2.8 AIS - really under-priced for some reason. Sharp etc.

The TAIR-11A 2.8/135 is a killer !!!

and the Jupiter-37A 3.5/135 is also a very fine lens, compact, light and very sharp.

I'd add another recommendation for the CZJ 135 's'. And being in M42 mount, there are plenty of adapter options ; when not using it on a screw-mount body, I mount it via a CY adapter to one of my Contax or Yashica bodies, or via an EOS adapter to a Canon film or digital body. It's much more compact and light than the CZ Sonnar 135/2.8, and though the latter is my favourite, the CZJ has the edge on versatility and portability, and you take the best pictures with the lens you took with you, not the one you left at home.

The tair is by no means a light weight lens

Best of my 3 is the CZJ 3.5/135. I've the later MC S version. Most fun are the Pentacon and Meyer 2.8/135s.

Pentacon electric/auto 135/2.8
Jupiter 11 135/4

I have the CZJ and it's great (1m closest focusing) but it's mechanically not that great. The Super-Takumar is much nicer mechanically and the focusing is much smoother.

So IMHO the Super-Takumar or SMC-Takumar feels better to use. Optically they seem pretty equivalent except for color cast.

I have the singlecoated zebra CZJ 135mm/3.5, also the Asahi Super-Takumar 135mm/3.5 and previous I had Pentacon Electric 135mm/2.8. They have all helped me made good pictures... The Super-Takumar feel slim, the CZJ zebra feel robust.

I vote for:

1- CZJ 3,5/135

2- Steinheil macro Quinar 135 (or Quinar "D" version).

Both in M42.

I have a handfull of 135's.

I own the Soannar 3.5 Zebra which is quite nice. Its small and not very heavy.

I also have the Zeiss Triotar which is a longer build but not so heavy. It's also a very nce lens.

Fujinon EBC 135mm, very small and light and sharp.

Viv Komine which isnt bad.

Super Chinar 2.8 which is a short stubby lens and not so bad.

Auto Chinon 2.8 which is short and stubby and a rather good lens.

I also have the old BBAR Multi Coat by Tamron, which isnt too bad.

My favs are my 2 Zeiss lenses and my Fujinon.
