What should I look for in OM-to-EOS adapters?

I'm not interested in AF-confirm, but I was curious to know if there
are any specific things to look out for in an OM-to-EOS adapter.

It seems that there are no mirror clearance issues with an OM lens
on a Canon 400D, or am I wrong in believing that?

My mother has a Vivitar zoom lens she'd like to give me, which she
used on her OM-1. I'm not sure yet what the focal range is, but I
believe it's a Series 1 lens. It's likely a 70-210mm, or something similar.

Anyways, I was mostly wondering if I need to look for an adapter
with an inner flange, such as for the M42 auto lenses.

Anything that people care to mention about this will be most welcome.

OM > EOS has no issues.

I bought the cheapest one I could find and it works well. i would get one with AF confirm if I were you. 400D is not great for manual focus.

With my income, I really can't justify the higher cost of an AF-confirm adapter. I do plan on replacing my focusing screen, though, but that'll have to wait.

I've had no trouble with OM->EOS adapters, bought from cirrusadapter, iirc. Most of them from various sources are the same, from what I can see. There's a threaded pin at the side of the adapter that holds the aperture lever open and gives you full manual control via the aperture ring. By removing that pin you can have full open focusing at say, f8, and just before shooting, press the button on the side of the lens to stop down. It then acts like a preset lens. Not all aftermarket OM lenses have the button though.

I had almost forgot this thread.

The issue for me is now moot. Since I bought the Soligor 75-200 zoom, I have no reason to spend more on an adapter to use my mother's Vivitar 70-205 zoom.

I plan to stay with M42-mount lenses for 2 primary reasons. Firstly, they are extremely abundant, found nearly everywhere. There is everything from crappy to exceptional quality in this mount. Secondly, M42 to EOS adapters are easily the least-expensive to be found for EOS bodies. This means I can afford to purchase one for each lens.

I certainly won't ignore good deals on other mounts, as I know that there are plenty of fine lenses which are not M42. But for the near future, I plan to stay with what is so financally appealing to me. Now, if I should have the opportunity to acquire an outstanding lens for free, I'll certainly purchase a mount adapter for it.

So if a fine Zuiko or other OM presents itself to me, I'll have to thank all of you for offering information about adapters for it.
