My tair 300 is a little short for bird work, so i need something a little longer.
In order of priority are
1. Sharpness
2. Variable arpeture
3. Useable with a monopod
I dont want a mirror lens, there coatings deminish over time and last but not least is the price, i will consider everything, but nothing too expensive, ie. For what i could buy a new auto focus for.
Must be adaptable to the alpha mount, so m42 and t mount lenses. _________________ Sony a200. A dead zenit em. Pentacon 50mm f1.8 (fixed and quite sharp). Helios 44-2, Tak 55 f1.8 (broken arpeture, waiting for repair). The mighty tair 300. Plus several auto focus minoltas/sonys |

Seconded. And the Leica, of course
You could look out for a 400/6.3 "Wundertute", but there are some dreadful crap ones out there too, so it pays to stick to known ones from Tamron and Soligor, etc. _________________ Dave - Moderator

Mr. Herr, what an honor to have you on board. I think nobody would be more qualified to answer the original poster's question.
Cheers!

Attila, this is for the Novoflex lens. The Leica Telyt is more like 250-400 euros for the 400mm.
Cheers!
