I have this lens, it's made by Tokina http://forum.mflenses.com/soligor-105-2-8-maker-t57892.html
The IQ is not Leica-like, but usable.

I haven't shot anything with it except a couple of boring test shots. Maybe will take it for a spin tomorrow if the weather is nice. What is the price point, anyway?

Take it you can't find anything in this focal length for this price , stopped down to F8 it will be surely excellent.

I had one too, contrast is a bit low, but with a little PP, gives nice results.

I had a 200mm Soligor preset f4.5. I was not happy and gave it away to charity.

Try to test it out thoroughly before committing to buying it. Your copy might be good. Mine was very bad.

I think the price is reasonable, and it's hard to get this focal length cheaper. However, assuming the first lens in OP is the one you want to buy, the condition of the front element is suspect. It could be fungus or cleaning marks. Neither is the reason not to buy, my lens has cleaning marks, but appears decent, just make sure you know what exactly you are buying.

A search here will yield some results.

Actually the seller is in another city,he posted it in our local ebay ,later i talked to him directly and wanted to buy directly from him ,he says then he could lower the price further!!!but i have no chance of physically inspecting the lens as its located In a different city!!!

I took it for a short walk. The lens is upgraded from "usable" to "very usable" Very Happy . Get it. One of the benefits is that it has a zillion blades, so bokeh looks nice at any aperture. All the images below were shot in the f2.8-f5.6 aperture range on NEX-5.

The 200/4.5 was a completely different lens, made by a different manufacturer Wink Soligor lenses vary immensely.

Thanks Pancolart. To be honest, I am myself surprised how well the shots turned out - my lens is an ugly duckling, beat up: cleaning marks, had a wobbly rear element before I tightened it, IIRC it also had starting fungus that thankfully wiped clean. I strongly suspect that it was fished out of a dumpster. No matter, it shoots great and not just close-up. Unfortunately landscapes where I live are a bit boring, I tried a couple of infinity shots, the result is technically fine, just not very interesting.

raay04, looking forward to your shots!

thank u Fermy, initail testing shows good promise!!! my lens is made by kominar!!! its written on the mount part(will post a photot),can you tell me who made yours??? the meter/feet markings are the same!!!! here r better photos of My copy

Your T2 mount adapter is Kominar made. It doesn't necessarily identify the maker of lens.

@pancolart ----ok thanks for the clarification!!!! i guess the lens is made by either tokina or Komine!!! Rolling Eyes

I've been told on good authority that mine is made by Tokina (see the link in my first post in this thread). It's pretty obvious that yours and mine are the same lens, so they are both from the same maker.
