Hi everyone!
Does this lens needs any modification on a 5D? I've testing it during some days and it's not as sharp as supposed to be on infinity... Could that be an adapter issue? Lens model is 116589 Olympus OM-SYSTEM ZUIKO MC AUTO-W 1:3.5 f=21mm.

Tomorrow, if possible I'll show some photos and crops comparing it to the Distagon 28/2.8 at "infinity" (mirror issue Very Happy).

Yes it sounds like it to me.
If the images from closer distance are sharp on focus point then......for sure it is an adapter that hurts infinity.

I did buy one adapter from Roxsen for OM-EOS. It was to thick. Probably it is the same problem for you.

Happypage HK has the best adapters at the moment of HK/China ebay sellers.
I don't know maybe Alex has an OM-Eos adapter also.

Cheers
Andy

What would be the correct thickness?

Mmmm could not compare with Distagon because I lack of adapter but I shot these at F11, on 3m mark. The DOF just goes from 1m to past infinity.

These are the results, what do you think? Is this lens well focused on infinity?

I would have to see a 100% crop of the foreground to be completely sure, but it looks like your lens is not focused to infinity.

The piture was taken from my balcony so it's like 4 meters to the nearest subject of the picture I think.

As for me, the lens doesn't focus at infinity.
The closer object in the picture is the roof in the lower left corner, and it seems sharper than everything else.

What strikes me the most is that it does not look better than the Vivitar 20mm f/3.8 I used on my Canon... Not even on closer distances.

I've been trying and if I put the lens handheld on the camera without the adapter and focus to infinity I go past infinity. If I move the lens forward then I get again something like infinity focus, but it's pretty damn hard to get infinity.

Well, I've been reading kind of everything I could find on adapter and infinity focus and I think that my ultimate try is to shave a little bit the adapter (in fact, it's quite hard to mount it, maybe because of thickness) and try to achieve infinity or beyond infinty, because with an ultra wide angle is something necessary. Because I only have one OM adapter and one OM lenses I think its worth to try it Very Happy.

I'll keep you in touch.

P.S: As I read, it's more difficult to achieve infinity with wide angles that with telephoto, so maybe the 2mm adapter are a bit less for ultra wides.

Well, finally after shimming the adapter a bit, there wasn't possible to get infinity in focus. I think that maybe my copy is a little bit soft. However with a bit of "incamera" sharpening the things change:

What do you think?
