I like the 60-100 range for the rain forest, especially if there is macro capability as well.

I keep an 85mm lens on my camera most of the time, 80% of the time it is a manual focus lens.

I have just ordered a new 24-70mm AF zoom, so that will be for a while as I get used to it. I am shooting my first wedding in 3 weeks. I will be one of 3 photographers, so there is a lot less pressure Very Happy

on RF 21-35 in fact it is a M- Hexanon 21-35 dual FL lens (rare and superb)
On reflex 85mm.

For a zoom, I like 28-85mm the best. For a fixed lens, I generally favor the good old 50mm. (Film camera)

That's actually what I was just going to ask! I still don't have any digital camera. So for 35mm I've been leaning toward the 28mm-37mm side of things...but a really nice portrait lens (like an 85mm which I have yet to get) might change my mind.

What a great question! It's so interesting to see what people shoot more regularly.

31mm...just can't afford it Crying or Very sad Confused Razz

That was a tough one to answer as I have so many interests, but If I look at the lenses I have on my camera mostly it's wide to normal.

I’m all over the place, 20-135mm seems the most common, but I split my time with architecture <-----> portraiture. I'm just a mess!

Unless I have two lenses with different focal lengths but similar optical qualities, it is more a question of deciding which body to use, 350D or 5D. More often than not, my choice is dictated more by the optical qualities than by the FL. Most of my favorite lenses fall into the 100-135 mm range, which for me is a good general purpose range.

I've spent the most amount of money on the wider side: Fisheye, super wide angle, fa 31mm lim, Hartblei 35/2,8... They all take great photos.

But for some reason, I "like" shooting with all my 50's. All cheapos, too.

Super-Tak 50/1,4
Color-Ultron 50/1,8
Pentacon 50/1,8 (and a Revuenon branded 50/1,Cool
Helios 44M 58/2

And I wouldn't mind adding a few more here Very Happy

50mm, 55mm, and 58mm seem to be mounted on my cameras at all times.

I do use my 24mm's when Im shooting the city. I also like to have handy a 100mm or 135mm.

But if I only had one group range to shoot with it would be the 35-60 range. Smile

Actually 12-24 because I want to get close to things. Smile

On crop: first 21-35 then 36-60
On FF (film for me): first 36-60 then 85mm

My fav lenses are perhaps the 35mm and the 50mm ones.

The 28-80 range of the Tamron SP is still my favourite. Such a useful little tube of glass bits.
