Lake and Meadow Interpretation

Sitting by the lake having a cracker snack, the sun poured down on the Penstemons in the foreground. Normally they aren't all that colorful, but I though they looked nice against the darker waters.

I tried two depth of field shots, but I really like this one better with the softened background. It gives me more of a impressionist feel and brings home the "color without details" of this late summer scene.

Pentstemons and Meadows

Mamiya-Sedor 180mm lens
f:4.5 and 1/30th

That is truly lovely!
With a blustery fall day upon us. This image is like a little summer holiday!
Thanks Larry Smile

Larry, if you didn't have your gear, we would have to collect money and buy it for you!
You are such a great photographer. When talent and experience come together, you get results like yours.
Thanks for showing them!

Thank you! I wonder though, about the fairly large amount of black space on the right side. Perhaps I shouldn't be concerned, since there is a nice bunch of "spot" colors there?

I was attracted to this because of the colors - so your comment in relation to the colors is heartening!

You are very kind Carsten. I've been posting some "not so good" images lately. I DO like to hear others' opinions though, and sometimes what I think is a pretty good image does not appeal to others the same way.

I am glad this one appeals to you. Thank you for commenting.

Honestly for me that Black space adds to the "Painterly" effect of this shot. I love it. Very Happy

Thanks much, Henrik! I guess I'll just "keep" the darker space on the right, then! I appreciate the constructive thoughts.

I also agree. To appreciate light there should be shadow (one reason I dislike automatic HDRs).
